An ideal candidate would:
- Manage accounting/budgeting function in the company.
- Responsible for Legal/Secretarial function for the office.
- Facilitate timely completion of statutory, tax and internal audits of the company.
- Draft policies, third party contracts and risk framework for the office.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate various commercial agreements with authors or their representatives, waiver letters, assignment agreements and subsequent amendments or renewals.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate various commercial agreements with vendors, service providers and subsequent amendments or renewals.
- Review, interpret, and analyze agreements and advising internal teams on rights and responsibilities relating to those agreements.
- Understand the business and make sure all the agreements are in line with the business model and that the Company is protected at all times.
- Make sure that all the agreements are in accordance with the Company's internal policies and business practices.
- Review marketing materials/collaterals and support the team in quick execution.
- Research on IP laws (mainly copyright laws) their applicability, implementation and protecting the Company's rights.
- Routine legal advice to business and operations units and conduct legal research on various topics.
- Create training material and conduct training for internal team members.
- Maintain Contract database along with sending renewal reminders and processing any renewal or amendment request if so received.
- Act as a Strategy Consultant to business (and functional partners) and integrate Finance into the decision-making process and develop and/or challenge strategic business decisions
- Play an integral role in all the planning cycles (Strategic Planning, Annual Operating Plan, Monthly Forecast). Drive the long-term growth plans and resources needed to make that happen
- Reviewing Financial Statements, Preparation of board decks - Work closely with the accounting teams and perform deep-dive analysis on sales, costs, and profitability of all business lines
- Draft analytical summaries for the CEO & Board. Help measure the impact of strategic decisions and align the management team around it
- Identify trends and generate detailed financial and operational projection. Be responsible for developing reliable estimates of sales, margin, SG&A costs.
- Identifying opportunities for cost reduction and revenue improvement - Identifying financials risks and raising early warning signal
- Collaborate with Sales team, design pricing models, evaluate pricing effectiveness and assist in pricing decisions
- Provide periodic Investors' reports, address Investor queries on the company's performance
What are we looking for
- Finance graduate with 8-15 years of relevant experience, Chartered Accountant or MBA in finance, LLB and Company Secretary
- Independently managed end to end Finance operations for a funded company for at least 5-8 years
- Have experience and have been closely involved in the fundraising process end to end
- Possess in-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
- Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with all functions
- Prior Entrepreneurial or Startup experience would be a huge advantage
- In-house experience in handling agreements with copyright matter in a company engaged in publishing or marketing is desirable.
- Some experience in negotiating contract relating to intellectual property licensing, service agreements, consultancy and other related services.
- High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
- Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information.
- Sound knowledge of copyright laws, publication agreements, licensing agreements.
- A team player but with an ability to work independently
