Role : Financial Controller
Location : Gurgaon
Our Client through its business unit in India manages the investment of funds (Angel / VC) into the Start-up or Early Growth Companies in India. Our Client is seeking to appoint a Financial Controller for its investment unit. This position will be accountable for the financial and risk management operations of the Company's investments and the ongoing development and monitoring of the control systems designed to preserve the company assets and report accurate financial results to the Directors.
Some of the principal accountabilities that this position will be responsible for are :
Key Responsibilities :
- Evaluate potential deal flows/investments and provide recommendations to the Investment Committee of the Company on the suitability of various investment proposals which are placed before the Investment Committee.
- Assist in structuring of investment transactions in consultation with the Company's corporate advisors.
- Monitor the financial performance of the Company's investments and provide recommendations for continuous performance improvement.
- Manage accounting and financial reporting requirements; regulate, supervise and implement a timely, full and accurate set of accounting books of the company's existing investments in a manner commensurate with the applicable laws.
- Conduct financial analysis and prepare detailed financial reports and statements.
- Provide financial and accounting advice.
- Ensure compliance with financial legislation, policies and procedures.
- Implement financial audit and control systems to monitor the performance of the company, its flow of funds, and drive adherence to the budget.
- Coordinate local GAAP audit. Respond to Auditors- comments and ensure that all observations are adequately addressed.
- Implement and monitor payment authority practices. Establish and maintain cash controls and prepare cash budgets.
- Prepare and present for the approval of the Board of Directors an annual budget, financial plans, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results for each of the Company's investments.
- Prepare rolling forecasts and re-forecast.
- Maintain a working relationship with banks / financial institutions and suppliers of financial services hired or contracted by the company, including accountants, auditors, legal counsel, advisors, etc.
Qualifications & Experience :
- The applicant must be a qualified Chartered Accountant and have a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience. Preference will be given to candidates who have done their articleship from a Big 4 firm and qualified in their first attempt.
- An MBA from a Tier 1 institute such as IIM, XLRI, SP Jain, or equivalent. Experience in investment banking or private equity will be a definite plus.
- The applicant must possess a sound knowledge of the relevant legislation including Accounting Standards issued by ICAI; The Companies Act, 1956; and The Income Tax Act, 1961.
- The applicant must have a working knowledge of the taxation, accounting and legal practices in India.
- The applicant must possess excellent communication skills - both written and verbal and should have a mature personality.
- The applicant must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
