Finance Director, Accounting - A global B2C/B2B startup

A global B2C/B2B well funded startup is looking for a Finance Director, Accounting to be based in India.

The Role:

- As the Finance Director, Accounting you will be responsible for building up and leading the accounting and controllership functions, overseeing financial reporting, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

- This role involves effective team management, and collaboration with key stakeholders to drive regulatory compliance and adherence to accounting standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.

- Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.

- Establish and maintain robust internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.

- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, standards, and reporting requirements.

- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to in accordance with statutory requirements.

- Provide insightful analysis of financial performance and trends to support decision-making.

- Build, lead and inspire a high-performing finance and accounting team.

- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members.

- Manage relationships with external auditors and oversee the audit process.

- Implement audit recommendations to enhance financial processes and controls..

Must-haves:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CA designation is required.

- More than 10 years of proven experience in accounting and controllership, and track record in building accounting teams.

- In-depth knowledge of FRS / IFRS, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.

- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop a high-performing team.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Good to have:

- Prior work experience in telecom is welcome

- Experience working with startups especially consumer tech startups is a plus

Reporting : The role will report to the CFO.
