Job Overview
The job involves providing comprehensive research support to FIL's equity analysts, including company and industry analysis, financial modelling, valuations, sector/country updates, and other custom research work.
Person should have a good understanding of equities and the broader financial research process.

Responsibilities (to note down five to eight primary duties performed in this position in their order of importance)
- Provide all-round research support to FIL equity analysts on one or more sectors, including on initiations and on-going coverage
- Prepare detailed financial models (including on valuations), industry studies and company notes
- Provide quality data and analysis to make the research process more efficient and robust
- Keep abreast of important trends and developments in the relevant sectors/geographies
- Provide need-based analysis on unassigned stocks
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and within the team
- Make regular presentations to the team on relevant topics/areas of expertise
Key Skills/Experience (Specific knowledge and technical skills that are required to perform the position)
- Good understanding of capital markets with excellent financial skills. A solid understanding of financial statements, ratios and valuation concepts. Prior experience with Asia/US equities strongly preferred
- Analytical / Problem solving skills, with a logical thought process - to sort, analyse and creatively interpret large amounts of qualitative and quantitative data.
- In-depth knowledge of one or more sectors - key drivers, dynamics, trends and indicators - would be an advantage
- Database skills - Bloomberg, Datastream, Factset, Factiva, and other financial databases
- Good relationship management, and strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work with and coach junior team members
Years of Experience:
- 2-7years work experience - in investment research or working in the relevant industry role
Education:
- MBA from prominent institute or CA or CFA or Masters in Finance
External Relationships:
Sell-side for factual information, analysis, reports and models
Industry wide bodies to catch the trends early
Database vendors For information needs and training
Internal Relationships:
Portfolio managers Consumers of research pieces, they factor research into investments
Analysts Drive initial work flow. Use research to identify companies, modify projections
Manager For regular work related issues and for career development
