Friendly Franchisees Corporation (FFC) is an exciting and fast paced organization. It continues to be a highly successful restaurant and real estate holding company. FFC is currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to help position the organization for continued successful growth.
- Under the general direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting the accounting department in creating accurate and timely financial records. The Senior Accountant will oversee the general accounting operations of our restaurant business unit.
- Responsibilities include maintaining the general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures, reconciling account balances and bank statements, and directing staff accountants.
- The successful candidate combines excellent analytical and communication skills with a thorough knowledge of GAAP to analyze financial records, reports and forecasts.
- The ideal candidate has successful experience collaborating with and leading a team of accountants and junior accountants as well as taking direction from and presenting to senior management.
Responsibilities
- Perform general ledger reconciliations, schedules and related journal entries
- Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Produce and present accurate financial statements and operating reports
- Analyze accounting information, summarize results, perform variance analysis
- Support and perform month-end and year-end close process
- Participate in forecast process and produce budgets according to schedule
- Identify errors and suggest improvements for efficiency and spending
- Knowledge and ability working with multiple entities
- Coordinate internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Assist with tax audits and tax returns
- Supply technical accounting support to the organization
- Provide input into setting department's goals and objectives
- Lead staff accountants and oversee work processes and procedures
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP
- Liaise with our CFO and Controller to improve financial procedures
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required
Skills
Experience in Real Estate or Restaurant industry is a plus
- 5-10 years Accounting experience with last 2-3 years as a Senior Accountant
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant area of study
- Professional certification (e.g., CA or CPA) preferred
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
- Proficiency working with accounting records and financial statements
- Experience with general ledger accounting and journal entries
- Month-end and year-end close process expertise
- Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables and macros
- Accuracy and attention to detail a must
- Hands-on experience with Great Plains or Yardi highly desirable
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Team player able to train and manage staff
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Able to work with little to no supervision
