The Factory Director has overall responsibility for the manufacturing operations at the Food processing unit. The incumbent is accountable for the safety, quality, and efficiency of the operation, in compliance with legal and global standards in manufacturing.
This role leads the production of our range of products and will be the primary catalyst for change management through powerful visionary leadership, developing direct reports and building effective teams.
The Factory Director is accountable to put all standards in place in order to deliver a world class product at the lowest cost. Key deliverables of the role would be Product Safety, Quality, OEE, and case fill through adherence to schedule.
The role is also accountable to deploy BRC/US FDA/GMP standards, aligned to site operations and ensure 100% compliance
Essential Functions :
Operations Management :
- Responsible for managing, directing and implementing operation strategies and objectives to facilitate new product introduction and ensure the achievement of production goals and cost objectives
- Manages and improves operations, generating savings within operational cost budget
- Directs the overall production activities, significantly improving current operations while effectively introducing many new projects for the site
- Provides effective leadership and guidance that encourages world class manufacturing processes, Continuous Improvement, employee empowerment and lean manufacturing
- Lead departmental workloads meeting safety, quality, and production targets
- Assists with developing annual operating plans for the site and manages departmental budgets
Continuous Improvement :
- Establishes and maintains key performance metrics, taking overall responsibility of manufacturing performance
- Implement strategies for cost reduction, process improvement and on-time delivery
- Develop and deploy metrics across all organization levels
- Enforces policies and lead improvements to operations and develop & implement manufacturing standards
Cost Control & Communication :
- Key liaison with supply chain planning to support superior customer service through delivery of adherence to schedule target
- Interfaces with Product development, Supply Chain Management and the Sales organizations to resolve issues, strengthen relationships and develop new business
- Partner with Finance to deliver cost per ton & yields
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelors In Food Technology and Management
- Exposure to the FMCG/ Food processing industry is essential
- Knowledge of GMP /ISO 22000 &FDA standards & processes is essential
- Experience in managing an overseas reporting operation an added advantage
- Leadership capabilities and experience
- Ability to foster and cultivate business opportunities and partnerships
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects
- Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings
- Very strong execution and implementation skills, coupled with mainly tactical thinking skills
- Excellent in written & spoken English
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills
Excellent in the entire Microsoft Office Suite i.e. Excel, Word & PowerPoint
