TAS Economic Advisory Practice:

Our Economic Advisory (EA) practice offers a suite of services that includes decision support, analytics, econometrics and operations research that assist clients in making strategic and tactical decisions. Incumbent will be applying economic theory and econometric tools to get to the root of client's problem, analyzing large and complex datasets and building predictive models to come up with robust and compelling solutions.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities of the role

- Building relationships with EY offices across the globe, demonstrating knowledge of regional practices business and developing open communication channels

- Managing & executing engagements related to Economics Advisory

KRAs :

- Identify issues and propose strategies related to the procedures executed

- Manage a team of professionals

- Ensure that workflow is seamless and well managed with on time delivery of engagements /projects

- Demonstrate teamwork and responsibility by engaging with team members

- Use current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of services provided

- Stay abreast of current business and economic developments relevant to our as well as the client's business

- Provide or contribute to economic analysis as part of client engagements

- Prepare and present clear reports to support these analyses and solutions

- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Excel and other suitable solution platforms

- Manage own time to budgets and communicate progress against plan to assignment manager

- Apply or refer to a basic range of EY services and products in meeting clients' needs

- Proactively manages own career path and development

- Specific engagement responsibilities will include assessing the nature, quantum and complexity of work involved in an engagement, discussing and planning timelines and key milestones, breaking down engagement scope into activities and tasks and allocating people and resources to accomplish tasks, guiding and coaching team members and reviewing their work, and ensuring final delivery in line with client's expectations

Technical skills requirements

Suitable applicants will be highly numerate and analytical Master-level Economics graduates with previous experience as economist/corporate planner employed in the private, regulatory or the public policy sector.

For these roles, it would be advantageous to have knowledge of any of the following:

- A solid understanding of the principles of regulatory economics, regulatory finance/accounting and/or econometrics;

- Specific experience designing, influencing or optimising economic regulation (price controls) or market arrangements;

- In the context of price controls, specific experience of designing incentive mechanisms, assessing efficient expenditures, allocating costs and assets, estimating the cost of capital and/or determining access charges or network tariffs;

- Knowledge of the electricity system, how it is likely to evolve in future and the potential implications for system operator(s);

- Specific experience in relation to Ofgem's RIIO price control framework, Ofwat's PR14 price control framework (and related Water 2020 programme) and/or wholesale energy markets;

- Behavioral economics and customer engagement;

- An ability to solve complex problems in a logical and structured manner;

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including an ability to explain complex technical issues to a non-technical audience;

- Strong academic and professional background in Economics, Business or Industrial Economics or Econometrics

- Experience of competition and regulatory economics, strategy, business planning, costing and pricing

- Experience of applying economic theory to the development and evaluation of public and regulatory policy

- Experience of the development economic impact assessment

- Experience in Economic policy and/or experience in one of our target sectors

Job requirements :

To qualify, candidates must have:

- Proven experience of 7 years + in developing and growing practices to serve new markets or provide new offerings, including ability to hold strategic conversations with stakeholders in senior and decision-making positions

- People management experience of 5+ years, including recruiting, training, performance appraisals and overall team development

- Excellent analytical, communication, organizational, interpersonal and teaming skills

- Willingness and ability to travel, when necessary
