Job Summary:
The GDS Digital Editing Lead is responsible for building, leading and managing the GDS-based team of global digital editors, who edit, optimize and publish content for our flagship website, ey.com, our digital brand hub, ey.com/bbww, and related microsites. S/he is also responsible for:
- approving copy and content for updates to the sites
- relationship management with key marketing leaders in the firm
- helping to oversee the transformation of content into digital formats so that it provides a compelling and engaging content experience across our sites that is consistent with firm guidelines
- helping to drive overall traffic/usage
- monitoring content quality across the network of ey.com sites
The primary functions and skills needed for this position include a strong ability to build, train and lead a digital content team; the ability to write effective web copy, including engaging teasers, headlines and use of digital media that drive traffic to knowledge sites/platforms; the ability to edit documents into streamlined digital experiences; multimedia skills; and the ability to conceive how digital content in different formats (e.g., text, video, interactive, blogs) may enhance the user experience. This role will work with others in the Content team to translate these ideas into practical results and to ensure the overall production & distribution of content is timely as per agreed timelines.
This position is responsible for understanding and applying firm branding guidelines, policies, procedures, processes, technology and related systems that comprise the firm's content management infrastructure.
Purpose of the Job:
- Build, train and lead the team of GDS-based digital editors to ensure that content is edited and optimized for the digital medium; write teasers and site copy that are engaging, brand-compliant and search engine-optimized, and published in the right formats, site locations and templates
- Edit content for ey.com and related sites, as well as content on mobile apps and social media accounts
- Write teasers and site copy that are engaging, brand compliant and search engine optimized
- Cross-promote content to related site sections, site homepage, and social media; provide insight on optimal cascade of content to country sites
- Work collaboratively with digital design and production teams and stakeholders as relevant
- Ensure compliance with web templates, design, and editorial guidelines
- Edit and moderate blogs as needed
- Develop ideas to enhance these sites; share ideas and innovation to improve content development processes
- Analyze metrics to determine effectiveness of content approach; act on these to improve site sections
- Successfully juggle competing priorities, multiple projects
- Conduct regular meetings with the team members to keep them updated on the content priorities, team strategy and business environment.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
- Act as a digital content advisor to stakeholders and other project requesters on the most effective approaches and methods of implementation to achieve their strategic goals via the functional areas.
- Make editorial decisions that achieve the business objectives, without detailed direction by the client.

- Recognize potential issues and make decisions throughout a project that balance the need to meet a deadline and still meet the original requirements of the project.
- Identify opportunities for repurposing content for additional audiences or to add convenience for the consumption of the message by the target audience
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in US English-language writing and editing
- Masterful understanding of digital content and publishing best practices
- Strong team management and leadership skills
- Demonstrate the ability to write effective web copy, including engaging teasers, headlines and tweets that drive traffic
- Demonstrate the ability to adapt global content to local audiences, ensuring high relevance
- Demonstrate strong relationship management skills in advising and guiding stakeholders on digital editing and writing best practices
- Demonstrate strong cross-promotion skills, with an ability to relate content items across site pages and sections for relevant audiences
- Demonstrate search engine optimization skills, with a knowledge of leading practices; be able to adapt writing and content editing for search engines
- Must be able to work independently, complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-pace environment.

Supervision Responsibilities:
- Hiring, training, coaching, and supervising a team of GDS digital editors

- Must be comfortable working across time zones and with global colleagues and reporting lines.
Other Requirements:
- Travel or an extended work day is required as needed to meet deadlines.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree or equivalent work experience; English, Journalism or Communications degrees preferred
Experience:
- 7 years of online editorial experience, of which at least two years included managing digital content team(s)
