Equity Research Analyst - IT Sector

Hiring for: An established Investment and Portfolio Management Services firm.

Work experience: 6-8 years.

Compensation range: 35LPA to 40LPA, as per skill and experience.

Location: Mumbai.

Work mode: 100% work-from-office.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Independent coverage of the IT and Internet sectors.

- Undertaking deep research in line with the firm's philosophy and process.

- The research process includes governance and accounting diligence, evaluating financial performance, competitive positioning, industry trends, and management quality to identify compelling investment opportunities.

- The research would also include field work, channel checks, expert meetings, attending industry conferences etc.

- Building and maintaining relationships with key decision makers within coverage companies as well as industry figures.

- Generating investment ideas for fund managers and communicating well-researched investment thesis to them.

- Helping fund managers build conviction in the investment ideas through collaborative research efforts, where required.

- Building and maintaining detailed financial models to forecast company performance, earnings estimates and valuation metrics.

- Also maintain sector databases for keeping track of broad themes in the industry.

FUNCTIONAL & BEHAVIOURAL KNOWLEDGE:

- Thorough understanding of the IT and Internet sectors, including different business and revenue models, relative strengths and weaknesses of different companies and drivers of value for each.

- 6-8 years of work experience in any sell-side or buy-side firm covering IT and Internet sectors.

- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.

INTERACTIONS:

- Works independently as well as with other members of the research team, with the fund managers and with other stakeholders within the firm, especially Sales.

TYPICAL SCOPE & IMPACT:

- Contributes to the achievement of personal and team objectives and helps the investment team take better decisions with clear insights on stocks under coverage.

MINIMUM & PREFERRED EDUCATION: CA and/or MBA with a graduate degree from a respected university.
