The Mgr. Engineering is responsible for executing the development, sustaining, and value analysis/value engineering projects and driving R&D for products. The role will report to the India Engineering Head
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clearly articulates the global and local strategy at various levels, sets the expectations/goals for his/her team in line with strategic objectives.
- Make strategic choices and take thoughtful risks for innovative solutions with long term stakeholder goals and safety in mind.
- Develops and leads highly engaged team - provides ongoing coaching and feedback to raise the bar on performance and development.
- Builds the capabilities/maturity of the organization by focusing on SME and Leadership pipeline development. Identifies and facilitates the required trainings, experiences and exposure to the team.
- Strikes a good balance to achieve short term and long-term goals with required pace
- Global and local stakeholder management within matrix organization, collaborating with multiple functions like Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, Supply Chain etc
- Be a strong technical partner with Product Business Units and leads a team that provide solutions to Engineering teams.
- Develops and monitors business-critical engineering metrics with regular reports to measure progress toward monthly/quarterly/annual goals in a transparent manner.
- Successfully owns/ supports NPI/NPD and sustaining projects
- Drives and inculcates continuous improvement and innovation culture within team.
- Model and foster company core values and behaviors
EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelors degree in appropriate field (mechanical, electrical, electronics) with 15 or more years of experience; or Masters degree with 13 or more years of experience; or PhD level with 12 or more years of experience; or local equivalent.
- Professional experience within engineering domain will be preferred.
COMPETENCIES
- Extensive technical and leadership skills in developing the large team in Research and Development, experience in coaching, mentoring and developing front line managers and SMEs
- Excellent record of working in global matrix structures and organization
- Knowledge of ISO 13485, QMS is desirable.
- Familiarity with engineering tools (LDFSS or DMAIC), processes and risk assessment methods (eg FMEA, DOE) and other relevant engineering process methodologies
- Excellent motivational skills: a person with the ability to set goals and inspire trust and confidence in team members to achieve the highest standards of performance in a dynamic fast paced environment, while maintaining a high level of expertise throughout the team
- Excellent judgment, timely and high-quality decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build strong, credible relationships across multiple organization functions (inside and outside of the org)
- Clear, strategic thinker with the ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems
- LEAN/Six Sigma certification is preferred
- Experience in coaching and developing people
