We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager to lead our Data Product engineering team at one of the fastest growing US startups in the AI space.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in backend or platform engineering, a strong track record of managing technical teams, and a deep understanding of data products.

This role involves setting daily and long-term priorities for your team, overseeing project logistics, and ensuring high standards of technical excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Team Leadership: Set daily and long-term priorities and direction for the engineering team, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and efficient execution of projects.

- Project Oversight: Oversee project logistics and resource allocation, including long-term resource planning to support the development and maintenance of data products.

- Technical Architecture: Review and evaluate technical architecture from a high-level perspective to proactively identify and address areas for improvement in terms of long-term stability, scalability, and extensibility.

- Mentoring and Guidance: Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior team members, contributing to the enhancement of engineering best practices such as coding standards, and writing well-tested, extensible, and reusable codebases/libraries.

- Performance Visibility: Conceptualize, institutionalize, and provide visibility into the status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to senior engineering and leadership teams.

- Recruitment and Training: Actively participate in the recruiting process; interview, hire, and train new engineering staff to build a high-performing team.

- Culture and Collaboration: Exemplify and foster a culture that is humble, collaborative, and impact-obsessed, in line with the company's values.

What You Will Need:

- Experience: 8+ years in backend or platform engineering, with at least 2+ years of people management experience.

- Technical Expertise: Proven experience working on production-grade software designed to be performant, scalable, and resilient, including web technologies and frameworks, relational databases such as PostgreSQL, data pipelines, and stream processing frameworks such as Spark.

- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to hire, grow, and lead a technical team, with a track record of managing complex technical projects and driving them to successful completion.

- Proactive Mindset: A proactive approach to driving change, questioning assumptions, and pushing for innovative solutions.

- Statistical and ML Knowledge (Preferred): Understanding of statistical and machine learning models is a plus.

- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

- Agile Experience: Comfortable working in a highly agile, iterative software development process
