Engineering Manager - Agile Development for a Leading Cloud Collaboration Platform

Designation : Engineering Manager

- Engineering Manager with a passion for quality code and agile methodologies both in process and technical practice. You will mentor a cross-functional Engineering team comprising of Business Analysts, Java, UI and QA engineers. As well as working closely with the Product Manager, you will also be prepared to get your hands dirty whilst pair programming with the members of your team.

The following is what we expect from you :

- The overall responsibility is to maximize the value delivered to our customers in each release. This would include ensuring we understand the customers needs and shape our delivery goals to that end. You will be working in a co-located cross functional team within our Bangalore office. There will be an expectation that you would be prepared to travel occasionally.

Specifically :

- Act as a leader/facilitator for the introduction of innovation and change in the engineering processes.

- Work with the product team to understand customer needs and ensure the team focus on delivering to those needs

- Work within a well-established agile organization and champion XP practices within your team.

- Work effectively with a distributed team, using your strong communication skills to ensure effective collaboration with teams in both India and Australia.

Experience required :

- A passion for agile XP practices such as TDD, pair programming, collaborative work practices and a strong advocate for the customer in all you do.

- Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and accompanying software development practices such as BDD and Continuous Integration (CI)

- Experience working on complex SAAS enterprise platforms ideally using Java and Open Source technologies such as Spring, Hibernate, AngularJS and Java

- Experience building distributed systems including web applications and web services

- Strong English language skills both Written and spoken.

- Strong interpersonal skills, this role includes the mentoring of a wide range of skill sets and personalities in a dynamic collaborative environment across borders and time zones

Highly regarded :

- Experience mentoring a team of mixed skills and experience

- A strong commitment to and experience with agile software development practices.

- A good understanding of the principles of TDD / BDD and extreme Programming practices.

- Experience in an iterative development environment.

- Facilitation skills, such as running agile planning sessions and retrospectives

- Graduation / Post-graduate qualifications in Computer Science or similar.
