Purpose: Lead and manage the development activities of one or more functional units. This will involve leading and managing a team of Product Engineers and Tech leads. Typically anywhere from 5 to 10 engineers would have to be managed. Will work closely with Product management and help in overall planning and execution. Will also actively help in recruitment of tech talent.
Reporting: VP-Engg
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure implementation of formal processes to support the product development process.
- Hands-on Project management
- Motivate the staff and manage and subsequently grow the Engineering team.
- Interact with the Senior Leadership Team and Product Management to help define and evolve the product roadmap
- Provide technical guidance and direction for all Product development
- Hands on involvement at least at the Proof-of-concept, prototyping levels.
- Extract the best out of the Engineers and drive the periodic appraisal process.
Qualifications:
Experience
- 8 to 12 years’ experience
- Hands on professional experience in software development and people management.
- Should have experienced the life cycle of a fairly complex technical platform
Skillsets
- Great with people: Should have demonstrated team building and leadership skills.
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Should have a good knowledge of the latest trends in Internet related technologies like big-data processing on
Hadoop, No SQL data storage etc.
Education
- Bachelor's or Masters in Computer Science or related stream
