Engineering Manager

This would be a Techno managerial role (60% Hands on role, rest is people management). The incumbent should be currently handling a team of minimum 8. He/She should have done hardcore Employee Management.(performance appraisal, employee relations, conflict management). At the same time should be technically Hands On.

They want to hire a dynamic Engg manager who can drive this team differently and successfully. Communication skills should be extremely good (impressive), should be ready to code if required, has to actively participate in design, poc etc.

Purpose : Lead and manage the development activities of one or more functional units. This will involve leading and managing a team of Product Engineers and Tech leads. Typically anywhere from 5 to 10 engineers would have to be managed. Will work closely with Product management and help in overall planning and execution. Will also actively help in recruitment of tech talent.

Reporting:VP-Engg

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure implementation of formal processes to support the product development process.

- Hands-on Project management

- Motivate the staff and manage and subsequently grow the Engineering team.

- Interact with the Senior Leadership Team and Product Management to help define and evolve the product roadmap

- Provide technical guidance and direction for all Product development

- Hands on involvement atleast at the Proof-of-concept, prototyping levels.

- Extract the best out of the Engineers and drive the periodic appraisal process.

Experience

- At least 6 years experience

- Hands on professional experience in software development and people management.

- Should have experienced the life cycle of a fairly complex technical platform

Skillsets

- Great with people : Should have demonstrated team building and leadership skills.

- Strong project management skills

- Excellent communication skills both oral and written

- Should have a good knowledge of the latest trends in Internet related technologies like big-data processing on Hadoop, NoSQL data storage etc.

Education

- Bachelor's or Masters in Computer Science or related stream
