Job Description : Engagement Manager - Strategic Advisory Firm
Role/ Responsibility of Engagement Manager :
- Delivery stops with the manager- has full responsibility for all project deliverable and processes
- Can rapidly complete solid, targeted engagement plan for a typical project
- Accomplishes tasks as quickly as reasonably possible
- Comfortably manages complex projects without missing any commitments, finds time to add further value
- Develops and implements detailed execution plans
- Sets up client meetings with sufficient notice, keeping client teams informed and engaged prior to meetings (e.g., detailed logistics, reading materials), managing meeting logistics effectively
- Delivers the project efficiently and manages study without undue - crunches,- even as the study focus shifts
- Involves all team members in most/all aspects of the study, including structuring the problem through developing recommendations; comfortably manages studies with two or more Consultants
- Handles medium-sized (three to four) or difficult client task forces well
- Discusses key issues with project partners regularly and finds high leverage ways to use their time with clients and the team
- Manages client interactions and creates an effective client communication strategy
- Thinks through a full communication strategy based on client needs; effectively brings resources to bear in implementing it
- Drives clients - understanding of issues and actively persuades them to adopt fact based/analysis driven approach to viewing issues
- Willing to effectively (without alienating the client) confront clients- understanding of the situation and obtains client buy-in to recommendations
- Frequently suggests ways in which it can add value in areas related to the study
- Takes initiative to identify client needs and with limited partner involvement scopes additional work and gains client support for it
- Trains, develops consultants and demonstrates team leadership
- Consistent record of people development i.e., develops strong consulting skills in team members
- Has very good ability to understand what motivates people and what their development needs are, and acts on these in a constructive way
- Consultants perceive that engagement is structured to allow them to do their best work; team develops unusual spirit and sense of identify
- Takes initiative to play a leadership role on people issues within the office and is effective in this role, has a Consultant - following :
- Builds culture where team members feel comfortable providing upward feedback
- Develops and leads the implementation of firm development agenda
- Runs company functions (e.g. recruiting, training)
- Offers ideas about new company initiatives and builds support to organize them
- Participates in company events (leading training sessions, interviewing, etc.)
- Has positive attitude and is a good ambassador/representative of the Organization
- Is a strong formal mentor
- Identifies areas of potential IP development and develops unique ideas
- Publish white paper
- Lead training session in area of interest
- Builds interest in specific areas of IP by gaining support of leadership and fellowship from consultants
- Has mastered a firm practice area
