Job Grade: Senior Lawyer

Role Purpose:

This role is pivotal in providing expert employee relations (ER) support and legal counsel on employment matters, ensuring adherence to organisation's regulatory framework and strategic alignment with business objectives. Key responsibilities include advising on complex ER issues, fostering stakeholder relationships, identifying compliance gaps, crafting policies, and delivering solutions that drive strategic outcomes and behavioural change.

Key Accountabilities :

This role leads in managing employment law affairs and litigation, staying abreast of India's labour laws, overseeing legal service engagements, independently handling intricate ER cases, and enhancing HR capabilities within the Talent & Culture function. Additionally, it involves mentoring team members for proficiency and growth.

Performance Measures :

Success in this role is gauged by effective ER issue resolution, legal standard compliance, and HR capacity enhancement in alignment with the organisation's strategic goals.

Candidate should have:

- Proficiency in offering legal counsel on diverse employment issues in India, such as hiring practices, contracts, discrimination, and regulatory compliance.

- Collaboration with stakeholders to develop and implement employment policies compliant with local laws and organisation's values.

- Management of employment disputes and litigation, including EEOC charges and wrongful termination cases.

- Monitoring of employment law changes, assessing impacts, and recommending proactive compliance measures.

- Oversight of grievance handling and internal investigations into workplace misconduct.

Good-to-Have:

- Skills in influence, negotiation, and dispute resolution.

- 12+ experience in employment law, ideally within corporate or HR-focused legal roles.

- Thorough knowledge of country, state, and local employment laws.

Qualifications:

- LLB from a recognized institution; specialization in employment law preferred.
