Logistics Head - Import/Export
Job Title: Head of Import-Export Logistics
Job Summary:
- This role ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods across borders while optimizing logistics strategies to align with the organization's business objectives.
- The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in global trade, customs regulations, and supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Logistics Management:
- Develop and implement import-export logistics strategies to meet organizational goals.
- Optimize supply chain processes for cost efficiency, delivery timelines, and operational performance.
- Establish long-term relationships with global shipping and freight partners.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to international trade regulations, including customs clearance, tariff classifications, and export control laws.
- Oversee documentation such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and other compliance records.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trade agreements, tariffs, and regulatory changes.
Supply Chain Coordination:
- Collaborate with suppliers, warehouses, production teams, and customers to ensure seamless logistics operations.
- Monitor and resolve issues related to freight delays, damages, or discrepancies.
- Negotiate contracts with carriers, shipping lines, and logistics service providers to secure favorable terms.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of logistics coordinators and import-export specialists.
- Provide training and development to ensure the team stays updated on best practices in logistics and trade.
- Foster a culture of accountability and excellence within the logistics team.
Risk Management and Cost Control:
- Identify risks associated with import-export operations and implement strategies to mitigate them.
- Monitor logistics costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and prepare reports on budget utilization.
- Implement contingency plans to manage disruptions in the supply chain.
Performance Monitoring:
- Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as transit times, freight costs, and on-time delivery rates.
- Continuously improve operational efficiency and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or import-export operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade laws, customs regulations, and incoterms.
- Proficiency in supply chain management tools and enterprise systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
- Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
