Founded in 2010, Ekya Schools is a chain of progressive K-12 schools in Bangalore, India. We are committed to provide immersive learning experiences facilitated by passionate educators, to prepare students for a rapidly evolving future. The Ekya Learning Center (ELC) is an in-house academic cell that designs curriculum to neatly dovetail with Ekya's culture, instruction, assessments and professional development. ELC's programs impact learning for 7500 students through nearly 400 educators.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead Ekya Schools in developing specific plans to scale its academic capabilities by Creating Ekya's strategic academic plan.
- Researching, designing and driving effective implementation of a rigorous standards-based, choice-based and interdisciplinary curriculum.
- Designing professional development modules to orient staff members in Ekya's curricular systems and key pedagogical issues.
- Helping teachers to develop instructional strategies and intervention programs that elevate achievement
- Setting up a professional growth plan for teachers through mentorship, observation and feedback.
- Implementing professional learning approaches including learning clusters and whole-school PD.
- Engaging in learning walks at individual schools alongside school leadership - principal, coordinators.
- Providing effective and inspiring management to a high-functioning and well-integrated curriculum team.
- Developing academic excellence by leading a team to: monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs across grades and learning areas , design learning programs to embody Ekya's Habits of the Mind and Habits of the Heart
- Establish a common vision and culture of instructional model, develop and implement curriculum unique to Ekya, establish systems for maintaining and monitoring academic program data, develop and monitor a common, data-driven student level assessment system.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in curriculum planning.
- Deep understanding of curriculum, instruction, assessment, professional development, and instructional technologies. Including - standards, curriculum mapping and unit planning frameworks.
- Proven track record of achieving short- and long-term organizational mission and academic results through the development and implementation of immersive, inquiry-led academic programs.
- Ability to work with and coach senior-level staff on curricular changes and implementation.
- Knowledge and experience in using Understanding by Design Framework would be a definite plus.
- Sensitive to cultural contexts and an ability to design a local yet internationally relevant curriculum.

- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, delegate, and lead by example.
- Fluent in the use of quantitative and qualitative data to drive decision making and strategic direction.
Professional Background:
- A minimum of a Bachelors; Masters is preferred.
- Classroom teaching experience is a plus but not mandatory.
