Role Overview:

- The Senior Accountant in US Accounting & Taxation will be responsible for the preparation and review of US federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses.

- This role requires a strong understanding of US tax regulations, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of hands-on experience in US taxation and be proficient in using relevant tax software.

- This is a full-time, work-from-office position based in Chennai, with a night shift schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Return Preparation & Review:

- Prepare and review a variety of US federal and state tax returns, including but not limited to Forms 1040 (Individual Income Tax Return), 1120 (U.S. Corporation Income Tax Return), 1120S (U.S. Income Tax Return for an S Corporation), and 1065 (U.S. Return of Partnership Income).

- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all tax return information.

- Utilize tax software to efficiently and accurately prepare tax returns.

Data Collection & Client Interaction:

- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and communicate with US clients to gather necessary financial data and documentation required for accurate tax return preparation.

- Follow up on outstanding information requests in a timely manner.

Compliance & Regulatory Updates:

- Stay up-to-date on the latest changes in IRS regulations, federal and state tax laws, and relevant compliance requirements.

- Apply updated knowledge to the preparation and review of tax returns.

Tax Notice Response & Planning Support:

- Assist in responding to tax notices received from the IRS and state tax authorities.

- Provide support in tax planning activities as required.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

- Ensure that all tax filings adhere to compliance standards and meet established deadlines.

- Follow internal processes and quality control measures to minimize errors.

Documentation & Confidentiality:

- Maintain proper and organized documentation of all client records, tax returns, and supporting documents.

- Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines regarding client information.

Team Collaboration:

- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient workflow and achievement of team goals.

- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

Process Improvement:

- Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to enhancing efficiency and accuracy within the tax preparation process.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Education:

- Master's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is mandatory.

- Candidates with a B.Com, BBA, or any other undergraduate degree with Accounting as a core subject are eligible.

- Candidates with a M.Com, MBA (Finance), or any other postgraduate degree with Accounting as a core subject are also encouraged to apply.

Experience:

- 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in US taxation is essential.

- Proven experience in preparing and reviewing US federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses.

Technical Skills:

- Familiarity and hands-on experience with at least one of the following tax software: Drake, Lacerte, or CCH.

- Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.

Tax Knowledge:

- Strong understanding of IRS rules, regulations, and procedures.

- Good understanding of US state tax requirements.

Communication Skills:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and US clients.

Interpersonal Skills:

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships.

Work Schedule & Location:

- Willingness to work in a night shift (7:00 PM to 5:00 AM).

- Must be willing to work from the office location in Chennai (Taramani).

- The work schedule follows a 5-day work week, Monday to Friday, with fixed off on Saturdays and Sundays.

Other Requirements:

- Must be an immediate joiner.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

- High level of professionalism and integrity.

Work Environment & Benefits:

Work Location: Chennai (Taramani), India (Work from Office)

Working Days: Monday to Friday (5 Days a week)

Work Shift: Night Shift (7:00 PM to 5:00 AM)

Fixed Off: Saturday and Sunday

Salary: Competitive salary based on previous experience and interview performance.
