Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Lead, India

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

- The Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Lead (India) champions the clear pathways, maps risks and opportunities to speed regulatory clearance for the diverse DuPont Nutrition and Health (N&H) portfolio in food ingredients, nutraceuticals and dietary supplements.

- The individual shall build the N&H presence and reputation amongst authorities, experts and key opinion leaders in the area of food ingredients and dietary supplements to help position N&H as an industry expert in food standards and regulations.

- The role works in collaboration with Regional Regulatory team, Global Coordinators, Sales and Application of Food Ingredients, Marketing and Communication teams, and interfaces with the Corporate Product Stewardship and Regulatory.

- This position reports to the Regional Director, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs, Asia Pacific.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

- Develop strategy and networks to enable regulatory solutions to support both product and technology innovation delivery.

- Provide advice and assessment to support new product and new technology development.

- Develop strategy and networks to enable regulatory solutions to support both product and technology innovation delivery.

- Champion advocacy, compliance & sales activity across the DuPont N&H businesses.

- Interpret and communicate food standards and regulations to internal business partners, including opportunities and risks.

- Approve marketing materials.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITES Regulatory Strategy and Framework :

- Develop and implement training and enhancement of policies and standards within the N&H regulatory framework.

- Monitor international best practice, including global benchmarking of the regulatory environment and regulatory affairs functions.

- Create effective communication channels for the regulatory strategy and framework across the N&H businesses.

- Monitor and advocate Codex position in Codex Asia, Codex country committee consistent with business needs based on science and global position.

- Work collaboratively with regulatory and business leads of specific portfolios to map regulatory pathways and communicate clearly on timeline to advocate right through approvals and support needed to business partners.

Regulatory Innovation Strategy and Execution :

- Ensure regulatory compliance for all innovation activity in N&H and advise on regulatory options and solutions.

- Utilise strategic advocacy to influence regulators as product and technology innovation requires.

Relationship Management :

- Proactively engage with internal business partners, external customers, industry bodies, and regulatory and scientific affairs functions globally.

- Partner with Product Leads and Global Regulatory Coordinators in each Business Unit to support product innovation and market access.

- Coordinate with Corporate Products Stewardship and Regulatory and related government and legal affairs functions to ensure a consistent corporate message externally.

Regulatory Information Services :

- Inform Sales and Business Leads on developments and opportunities or threats to monthly cross-functional business meetings.

- Ensure an overview of trends and developments in food supplement is maintained, with briefings provided to Dietary Supplements business meetings on developing issues and opportunities.

Leadership and People :

- Contribute to the building of capability of the regional regulatory team to deliver an engaged, high performing team motivated to protect the N&H credibility.

- Exercise the diplomacy and maturity required to operate in a global matrix organisation.

Job Qualifications :

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS / EXPERIENCE :

- MS in life sciences or related field and 10 years experience in food and/or dietary supplements regulations or PhD with 8 years relevant experience.

- Makes sound commercial decisions based on a thorough understanding of the global business.

- Understands commercial drivers and is comfortable in planning and managing resources within budget constraints (finding cost effective solutions).

- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and ability to comply and lower barriers to trade through interpretation of regulations and ability to influence.

- General knowledge of scientific methods in R&D and Quality.

- Proven track record of successful submissions and influence of regulations/regulators in food, food ingredients, dietary supplements and related pharmaceutical standards.

- Successfully impacted product introduction and product compliance by providing regulatory guidance and/or successfully influenced decisions at plants to implement change.

- Ability to deal with ambiguity and communicate recommendations on options to solve business problems clearly.

Honesty in defining gaps and failures, and find solutions to improve and/or find solutions to achieve business goals. Successfully analysed problems that require an in-depth understanding of the organization is a plus.

- Demonstrate strong influence on the success of future products and processes, and present influence to overall business interest (can be in non-technical/scientific manner).

- Consistent proactive and problem solving mindset putting internal and external customer's priorities at the core. Having track record of being a strong team player is a must.
