THE POSITION:
Divisional Manager – Manufacturing (Atta)
CRITICAL FUNCTION:
- Manufacturing Planning: Assess the capacity requirements, CAPEX requirements, resource requirements (raw material, manpower, packaging material) based on revenue projections and sales plan along with the manufacturing team.
- Production Planning: Review the production plan on monthly basis; Review the factory wise production volume on daily basis; Highlight volume variations if any and seek justification.
- Production Execution: Troubleshoot any escalated issues with respect to production execution in order to ensure smooth and continuous production run at all CMUs.
- Quality Planning: Review the quality systems and controlling processes at CMUs; Identify the pain points / issues along with CMU; Guide the team in defining specification for new quality systems and procedures
- Quality Execution: Review the quality reports and PQRS score on monthly basis; Participate in discussions to evaluate CMU PQRS score against the PQRS score by R&D team and competitive benchmarks; Brainstorm areas of improvement along with the plant manufacturing team; Lead the large scale quality improvement initiatives (with high capital investment) to improvise PQRS score
- Third Party Management: In case of factory augmentation: Negotiate the factory expansion contract terms; Draft a broad expansion plan along with the contract manufacturer of existing factory; Assist the CMU to identify external consultants for preparation of detailed expansion plan layout; Review the execution of expansion plan; Supervise the product quality trials at the expansion unit
- Plant Performance Evaluation: Conduct periodic visits to all CMUs to evaluate the quality of plant performance; Review the production and quality indices ( PQRS score, production yield etc.) on monthly basis; Seek clarification from the team in case of high variations; Guide the team to take corrective action in order to improve overall performance of all CMUs.
- New Product Commercialization: Assess the manufacturing changes (requirement of new equipments, technology, manpower) with respect to new product commercialization; Guide the manufacturing team about the changes; Supervise availability of raw material and production specifications before the pilot run; Supervise pilot run as per the lab tested manufacturing procedure; Highlight deviations, if any;-
- Order Fulfillment: Identify WSP stock levels on periodic basis; Highlight deviations from expected sales from WSP, if any; Participate in corrective actions for escalated issues in order to ensure market serviceability as per defined timelines and agreed quantities.
- Wheat Procurement Planning: Understand the procurement requirements of the category based on the manufacturing plan; Discuss and finalize the procurement strategy with ABD based on market trends and procurement requirements (e.g. bulk purchase / phased out purchase / forward looking contracted); Conduct periodic visits to review the quality of wheat; Review and provide feedback to ABD on quality of wheat; Analyze and manage revisions in procurement plan based on periodic revisions in production plan in order to ensure availability of raw material for smooth and continuous production run at all CMUs.
THE PERSON:
- 8 to 14 years’ experience as Plant Manager/ Production Manager who has managed the shopfloor for at least 4 to 5 years. Candidates from Paints, FMCG and White Goods would also be preferred in addition to Foods Industry
Technical Knowledge Required :
- Knowledge of supply chain management and manufacturing operations;
- Knowledge of internal quality systems and procedures;
- Knowledge of foods regulatory environment;
- Knowledge of agri-commodity market dynamics
Educational Qualification :
- B.E./B.Tech from the following: IITs, BITS, NIT – Suratkal, Warangal, Rourkela, Delhi College of Engg., Jadhavpur University, Pune College of Engineering, PSG Tech, VIT – Vellore, CFTRI – Mysore, BE College, Shibpur, REC'S
