Director - User Experience & Design - Internet/Online

Role

User experience (UX) and design are at the forefront of everything we do. This role is to envision how people experience our products across platforms and bring that vision to life in a way that feels inspired, refined and even magical

Responsibilities

1. Apply best-practice product design principles to drive the development of new products & features to create an optimal user experience while factoring in the organization's business model, the end-user's context and user experience design concepts

2. Gain a deep understanding of user motivations, business objectives, market opportunities and competition

3. Impart day-to-day strategic design leadership that fosters a shared understanding of the intersection between user needs, technology requirements, and business goals

4. Work with product managers and engineers to create a vision for a seamless cross-platform experience that translates to the advantages across platforms

5. Guide the team to craft beautifully composed layouts and deftly carved pixels

6. Create compelling interaction design: it's not about how it looks, it's about how it acts, moves and feels

7. Research, test and analyze: user data informs and guides our design decisions

8. Resource allocation - ensure we are always focusing on the highest priority things, focusing both on the short term needs as well as looking ahead to the next big challenge

Requirements

1. At least 10 years of relevant work experience with 4 years in leading user experience and design team

2. Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Architecture / Design or equivalent

3. Design specialization from IIT (IDC) Mumbai / NID, Ahmedabad or equivalent

4. Is able to plan, drive & integrate team members & process with functioning of Agile Product teams

5. In depth knowledge in product design, software engineering, human computer interaction and user-centered design combined with artistic design knowledge

6. A strong portfolio that highlights visionary design thinking

7. Excellent people management and leadership skills

8. Detailed and practical understanding of best practices in user experience design

9. Strong project management and implementation skills

10. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with the ability to listen, articulate and advocate for users

Good to have

1. HFI Certification

2. Strong time management skills and the ability to be self-directed when needed

3. Familiarity with user interface patterns for native mobile (iOS/Android) and mobile web.
