- As Director of Engineering, you will drive the product's technical growth and delivery of releases by working cross-functionally across GTM and product organizations. Within the engineering team, this role reports directly to the Product Head to drive complex technical solutions for all the requirements of the product. This includes acting as a leader on a team of engineers, guiding them towards the best technical architectures and implementations.
- Additionally, you will solve some of the more challenging aspects of technology. In this role, you will engage frequently with Product Managers to understand and refine feature requirements, while ensuring timely delivery of their implementation.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
People management (40%), including:
- Hire engineers and create rapid onboarding plans
- Mentor and coach engineers to resolve problems and help them navigate through ambiguous concepts/requirements to drive outcomes
- Understand their motivations, drive continuous engagement and help them adapt to fast-paced industry movements
Process management (30%), including:
- Coordinate with external stakeholders for new integrations and tools
- Manage product milestones, deployment cycles, and delivery of the overall road map
- Build quality assurance and data protection processes
- Ensure compliance with security requirements
- Monitor KPIs and budgets to assess engineering performance
- Source stakeholders- feedback for necessary improvements and adjustments to product/technology
- Prepare and manage the engineering budget cycles
- Technical guidance (30%), including
- Oversee front-end and back-end development teams
- Assure reliability and performance of all product releases with necessary telemetry
- Discover and implement new technologies that yield a competitive advantage
- Drive engineering best practice (CI/CD, TDD, peer reviews, etc.)
The Candidate :
The ideal Director of Engineering will be passionate about leading and guiding high-tech software development teams working on hard problems in computer science in areas such as distributed systems, machine learning, NLP, computer vision, programming languages, computer security, networking, cloud computing, analytics and big data.
Key Requirements and Qualifications:
- 10+ years of overall work experience.
- 3+ years of work experience as a Head of Engineering or in a similar senior-level position
- Significant programming expertise
- Extensive experience with cloud technologies and modern human-computer interfaces
- Demonstrated success building a culture of innovation, ownership, accountability, and customer focus
- Hands-on experience in back-end and front-end development
- Ability to build large enterprise-grade systems
- High learnability quotient, good value system, and must be a disciplined team player
- Strong expertise in analytics, agile methodologies, and DevSecOps engineering
