Director - Products - Tech Platform

We are looking for a Director (Product Management) who loves building tech products and aspires to work closely with engineers working on core tech areas. The Tech Platform team is relatively new and works on building central capabilities that power all APIs and products. As a result, most of our projects have aggressive NFR goals, such as availability of five nines (99.999%) and throughput to the tune of over 50000 requests/second.

Over the past year, we've worked on interesting projects like an API Gateway, an authentication service, a monolith to microservices transition platform, an identity microservice, an authorization service, API rate limiting, an event service bus, real-time reporting, and many more. Our stack across projects consists of Microservices in Go lang, Kubernetes, Redis, Cassandra, Kong, Kafka, Consul, PostgreSQL.

If you have worked on tech platform capabilities like Authorization, Authentication, Observability, Availability, Scalability, Notifications, External Developer Platform, Analytics, Data Science & Data Engineering Infrastructure then you will be a great fit! Directors in the Product team oversee significant scope with company-wide impact, lead a large product team and are responsible for end-to-end Product Management for the same.

You will be a good fit for this role if :

- You have 7+ years of product experience preferably in engineering and core tech problems

- You have led a team of 2-3 Product Managers in the past for at least 2 years

- You are passionate about developer experience

- You should be able to separate platform capability from a specific solution. Platform thinking is important for this role

- You are known as the person with 'tech & platform orientation'

- You can easily pull out the logs and analyze the data yourself to debug issues and figure out the current gaps in developer experience

- You love complex problem solving and are hands-on with data analytics

- Detail orientation comes naturally to you

- You understand technology, and love user-first & impact-oriented thinking

Job Description :

- Product Research & conceptualization: Your customers will be developers and you will be expected to understand the needs of different product teams and transform it to platform capabilities. Ensures conceptualization from a platform and a long-term view. Drive product conceptualization with a problem first, self-serve, iterative, test driven and data-informed approach.

- Tech orientation and depth: Understanding of scalability, availability, API design, Online and offline systems, Data Engineering, DevOps and its philosophy.

- Evangelisation: Drive Platform adoption and evangelization amongst internal dev teams.

- Devise Product Strategy: Define both long term strategy and quarterly roadmap to achieve the product vision and create impact.

- Manage Team and stakeholders: You are good with written and verbal communication and can handle stakeholders. You will hire, coach and mentor team members, set their goals and make quarterly assessment for their performance and growth plan.

- Build products and create well designed tech documentation: Collaborate with Engineering to build products including SDKs and APIs that internal/external engineers and, in the general, the tech ecosystem would love. Produce high-quality product specifications, well designed tech/API/SDK documentation and effectively prioritize and manage the scope of each product launch to deliver products and features.

- Launch products: Draft and execute a go-to-market plan for internal and external customers. Be the internal and external authority and advocate for your given area of focus.
