Experience: 18 -27 years

Education: PhD, M.E., M.Tech, Masters of Science, Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in engineering required. Mechanical engineering, Automobile Engineering, Engine Development, Thermodynamics

Job Summary

- Directs the overall application of a single-discipline engineering function in the design, development, subsystems through the product life cycle.

- Directs the creation of design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly and service.

- Verifies design using analysis and or functional testing, interprets results, drives decisions and assesses risk.

- Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional disciplines to resolve product issues.

- Evaluates customer needs and aligns requirements with identified customer expectations.

- May fill the role of a global technical functional excellence leader.

Skills

- Cross-Functional Design Review - Able to carry out and coordinate a cross-functional design review at an advanced level and in a wide range of work situations without guidance. Able to train and coach others in developing and applying cross-functional design review on a limited basis.

- Integrated Design Failure Mode And Effects Analysis (IDFMEA) - Specialized skills in Integrated Design Failure Mode And Effects Analysis (iDFMEA) for complex component, algorithm, control system, or other simple system to logically organize complex cause-fail mode-effect relationships, appropriately identifies risk areas, identifies and prioritizes actions necessary to mitigate risk. Leads / coaches a cross-functional team through the iDFMEA process and teaches/ mentors new users in the basics.

- Product Integration, Verification & Validation - Understands and applies processes, tools / skills involved in verifying and validating a solution to a problem, which is embodied in the statement of the requirements, has been developed. Testing is a multi-stage process that consists of activities for validating the product, from the most primitive elements up to the fully integrated system. The verification / validation includes activities such as component testing, integration testing, system testing, performance testing, acceptance testing, and installation testing.

- Systems Definition And Design - Understands and able to apply the basics of the system design process including requirements allocation and architecture, capability determination through system modeling and testing including Integrated Design Failure Mode And Effects Analysis (IDFMEA).

- Issue Management - Ability to identify and resolve exceptions to the project plan. Able to managing project change, and continually balancing/re-balancing the project plan triangle of scope, schedule and resources, and following-up on the countermeasures and action items to implement. Uses flexibility and innovation to find creative solutions, as well as being able to effectively manage leadership to get clear commitments. User proficiency plus significant experience in issue management, including ability to train and/or mentor this skill.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

- PhD, Masters of Science, Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in engineering required.

Experience

- Extensive relevant work experience required, including leadership of a medium-size technical group, and experience with strategy, managing, and budgets.
