Title: Director Plant HR and Labour relations
- The Plant HR Director will create a collaborative effort, through synchronization and matrix functioning, smooth and trouble-free operation in manufacturing to achieve the targeted production with specified quality standards within the decided budget by harmonizing the use of manpower, raw materials, plant, and equipment.
- The HR director is tasked with both identifying and leading the change initiatives required for driving growth in the factory.
- As the factory HR director, you will contribute to creating performance driven values lead by the organization aligning to the business goals with the factory and implementing sustainable HR initiatives with your colleagues to enhance the organization capability of your unit.
This position is located at Bangalore, India.
In addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are:
Roles and Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Selection:
- Identify sources of recruitment.
- Design and validate selection tools.
- Set selection criteria based on the recruitment plans.
- Manage and improve the quality of the selection process of staff up to engineers to recruit 'right' candidates at the right time.
- Supporting talent management (including workforce planning, intentional development, succession planning) to ensure the business has a sustainable and focused strategy to attract, develop and retain best talent.
Onboarding & Induction:
- Ensure the required paperwork is complete by the candidates.
- Responsible in coordinating with the required parties to process and provide company properties (uniform, access card, safety vests, safety glasses, other safety wear to be handed to the new entrants).
- Design & implement probationary period development plan for new entrants.
- Implement HR initiatives for selected staffs to induct new entrants and implementation of HR initiatives.
Training and Development:
- Collaborate with the process owners/ department managers to identify T&D needs as per the requirements of manufacturing excellence model.
- Design programs, measure & improve effectiveness of programs and administration.
- Implement monthly T&D plans to build right capabilities at the Plant.
- Attendance Management
- Controlling absenteeism & late coming for improving labor productivity.
- Maintain timesheet records of the shopfloor employees.
- Performance appraisal
- Set KPI's & monitor work performance, provide feedback & appraise.
- Roll-out the staff's performance assessments, monitor progress & compliance to the process to ensure timely and transparent appraisals of engineers & staff at the plant.
- Provide feedback on concerns to Managers, design and implement employee involvement and welfare initiatives.
- To ensure facilitation of individual & group reward and recognition.
Compensation & Benefits Administration:
- Administrating Salary & Wages Administration, Full & Final Settlements, Gratuity, Leave, Bonus, Superannuation Settlement.
- Maintain accuracy and timeliness in compensation & benefits systems.
- Assure quality and timely distribution of employee benefits, address employee grievances to ensure efficient administration.
- Claim adjuster correspondence -Tracking and claim review analysis for settlements.
- Environment Health & Safety
- Study health and hygiene requirements, identify gaps, secure budgets, and close gaps.
- Communicate and organize necessary training to ensure safety of employees.
- Complete initial reporting, accident investigations, communication work restrictions.
- Labour relations
- Take disciplinary measures in case of misconducts.
- Responsible in handling complaints, managing grievance procedures, and facilitating counseling in conjunction with other stakeholders.
- Investigating and resolving complex or critical industrial relations issues in a timely and effective manner.
- Collating and analyzing employee feedback across all levels on a regular basis and revising people programs and policies to generate more positive outcomes.
Exit procedures:
- Create termination packages, complete assigned terminations, ensure all termination paperwork is complete as per requirements.
- Ensure the exiting employees return their company properties (uniform, access card, safety vests, safety glasses, other safety wear to be handed to the new entrants).
- Statutory Compliance
- Ensure implementation, monitoring & control of HR Strategy in alignment with business strategy and develop / design HR Policies & process.
- Drive and implement D&I practices.
- Keeping healthy liaison with govt., semi govt. authorities like W.C. Commissioner, Gram panchayat, Insurance, Police Station, Banks, P.F. Office, Factory Inspector, Labour Inspector, Pollution Control, Police Authority, Local bodies etc.
- To monitor and comply with all statutory and regulatory compliances.
- Audits & Inspections
- Conducts audit and analyzes reports if required.
- Responsible in conducting inspections periodically if health and safety requirements are met at the plant.
Preferred Qualifications & Skillsets:
- Completed full-time master's in business administration degree specialized in Human Resources/ Industrial & labor relations or PG certificate in HRM.
- Completed or working towards SHRM-CP or CHRMP is an asset.
- 10-12 years of experience in Plant HR in a manufacturing company.
- In-depth exposure to various functions in plant HR with some exposure to IR, PR activities.
- Great verbal and written communications skills; not afraid to speak up when required.
- Strong knowledge of HR policies & procedures.
- In depth knowledge of employment legislations.
- Strong problem solving, negotiation & influencing skills.
- Excellent team management and conflict management skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail, quality, and follow-through; strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in MS Office suite of software and general knowledge on HRIS platforms.
