Director - Operations - Ocean Freight - Logistics Firm

- We are looking for highly motivated operations leader to join our client's team and support their growth in India.

- The successful candidate will act as a top-tier executive team member to lead our team of high-performing professionals to be efficient, productive, and effective.

- S/he will possess strong leadership skills with the ability to approach business from a creative point of view and be responsible for managing pricing and operations for sea cargo, negotiating rates with carriers, maintaining and developing relationships with shipping lines and agents, and ensuring the best price in the business.

- The candidate should have at least 10+ years of experience in pricing and operations of ocean freight.

Responsibilities :

- Responsible to streamline and execute the strategies and decisions of the top management.

- Aggressively manage capital investment and expenses to ensure the company achieves its financial targets

- Develop and implement pricing strategies that maximize profitability while maintaining competitiveness in the market.

- Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers and suppliers to ensure the best prices and terms for the company.

- Lead the procurement process, including sourcing, selecting, and contracting with vendors for all logistics services.

- Developing and implementing key strategies for the purchase of materials from sources; achieving cost reduction in procurement and packaging.

- Ensure efficient and effective operations of all logistics services, including sea, air, and land freight, warehousing, and customs clearance.

- Setting up SOPs for efficient service levels to meet the needs of clients as per SLA's agreed

- Manage and develop relationships with carriers, suppliers, and customers to ensure the highest level of service delivery.

- Aligning with customer claims & discrepancies and sending the feedback to the concerned department.

- Monitor and analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and risks for the company.

- Prepare and present regular reports on pricing, procurement, and operations performance to senior management.

- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of pricing, procurement, and operations professionals to achieve departmental objectives and support the growth strategy.

- Creating and sustaining a dynamic environment that fosters development opportunities and motivates high performance amongst the team members.

Qualifications :

- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.

- At least 10 years of experience in pricing, procurement, and operations of logistics services, including sea, air, and land freight.

- Extensive knowledge of ocean carriers and supplier networks and market trends in the logistics industry.
