Position Overview:
The Financial Controller is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This position involves managing the finance team, maintaining financial records, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth and objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and auditing.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial statements.
- Manage cash flow, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure effective internal controls.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Coordinate and oversee external audits and liaise with auditors.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Set clear goals and expectations for team members, providing regular feedback and performance evaluations.
- Promote a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
Strategic Planning:
- Contribute to the development of the company's strategic plans and initiatives.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making processes.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess financial performance.
- Support business units with financial analysis and advice.
Due Diligence for Investment Rounds:
- Lead the financial due diligence process during investment rounds, including private equity, venture capital, and other fundraising efforts.
- Coordinate with external auditors, investors, and legal teams to prepare and review financial documentation required for funding.
- Prepare financial models, projections, and scenario analysis to support investment discussions and negotiations.
- Identify and assess financial risks and opportunities, and present findings to key stakeholders.
- Provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to executives and investors to aid in decision-making.
Stakeholder coordination:
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (tax, legal, operations) to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with local and international regulation.
- Oversee compliance with statutory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and regulatory reporting.
- Work with auditors during the statutory audit process, addressing queries and ensuring a smooth audit cycle.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of management experience
- Proven experience in financial management, reporting, and compliance.
- Experience in startups is an advantage.
- 7+ years of experience post qualification
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Financial management, accounting and compliance, due diligence for investment rounds
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in financial software and systems, such as ERP systems and advanced Excel.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
