The Finance Director will develop and lead a high performing, commercially astute, results driven and practical function to support and drive high performance for the South Asia business. The incumbent will oversee the finance function covering the South Asia region to ensure compliance with local regulations and to provide timely and accurate management information to drive decision making for business growth.
As part of the South Asia Leadership Team, the Finance Director is responsible for accelerating growth in the South Asia market, while creating distinctive development experiences for the South Asia team. The role is expected to play a significant part in developing the short to mid-term strategy by leveraging relevant finance expertise to develop financial plans which lead to business growth and team development.
The Finance Director, will actively partner with the Field Sales team to support achievement of financial targets by providing input into KPIs, reporting and data analysis. This role will disseminate relevant financial information by liaising with Asia Pacific (APAC) and Global Finance teams.
Accountabilities:
Accountability 1: Financial and Business Management
- Partner with the Regional General Manager, South Asia & AGM to develop the short to mid-term financial strategy of the South Asia business; actively contribute to strategic decision marking as part of the South Asia Leadership team
- Analyze relevant metrics and information to support the achievement of revenue targets, expense and EBIT targets. This will include working directly with the Sales Director, Business Managers and the Area Business Managers and sales support functions
- Ensure internal controls, checks and balances for business processes are effectively monitored and adapted
- Act in accordance with regulatory and legal compliance, corporate governance and observance of the code of conduct and business relationship policies
- Ensure completeness of financial documentation and transactions (including, transactional documents, distributor, partnership and related agreements)
Accountability 2: Financial Planning, Analytics and Decision Support
- Deliver collaborative quarterly forecasts for South Asia - P&L, headcount, balance sheet and working capital
- Support the production of strategic and tactical plans, driven by market and demographic data and aligned to Asia Pacific (APAC) and South Asia's business goals
- Drive the quarterly business review process to create awareness and intelligence on qualitative and quantitative business issues and to support decision making on complex issues (e.g. pricing, market share, product launch approaches, key processes, etc.)
- Provide working capital management to minimise Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), inventory investment and to optimise supplier creditors
- Analyse complex issues, simplify options and drive changes in process, practices and approach accordingly
- Leadership team to provide input, advice and support on commercial business decisions involving internal and external parties
- Anticipate and deliver business insights around key decisions (e.g. pricing, partnership plans, business planning, competitive analysis and regional account plans)
- Closely partner with the South Asia Leadership team to drive business direction, objectives and strategy through management information (management information packs, lead review meetings, provide financial counsel)
- Support sales growth through commercial analysis of business and market data. Establish a regular reporting framework for competitive data
- Responsible for the regional planning process covering 3-5 year strategic plans flowing into annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
Accountability 3: Develop and Maintain Effective and Efficient Business Processes
- Develop and implement processes which will drive growth and efficiency in accordance with the company's policies, procedures and work instructions
- Ensure key financial (Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and inventory controls, etc.) are operating effectively and in alignment with transactional processes (Sales, Finance, Operations, and Customer Service)
- Participate in Global projects and lead Regional/Country projects to ensure continuous improvement of processes and systems
- Collaborate across functions and regional finance teams to identify and address business and process issues and implement solutions
Accountability 4: Compliance with governance principles and external reporting
- Ensure 100% compliance with tax and regulatory requirements for South Asia countries.
- Ensure local GAAP and IFRS standards are maintained with financial records for South Asia countries.
- Ensure internal controls, checks and balances for business processes are effectively monitored and adapted
- Responsible for the management of all external financial, legal and regulatory parties.
- Ensure completeness of financial documentation and transactions (transactional documents, distributor agreements etc.)
Accountability 5: Coach and Develop People
- Motivate employee performance and development, maintaining effective two-way communication and a culture of feedback
- Provide coaching and manage performance of individual team members. Provide team members with clear accountabilities and goals and is responsible for holding team members accountable for performance outcomes
- Define, manage and regularly track KPIs and deliverables of team members
- Identify areas for improvement and training needs within the team, aligned to company's policies and procedures
- Ensure team processes, policies and protocols are understood and adhered to
- Support, educate and contribute to the development of staff knowledge of data quality and expense control.
