Primary responsibilities:
- Directs and develops the organization's international accounting practices, procedures, and initiatives. Ensures the preparation and analysis of all financial reports meet the needs of the organization and comply with all applicable regulations.
- Takes a - new- look at processes and has a hands-on approach to leadership. Leads by demonstration and example, knows what staff activities are being performed and why, and understands the reasons for financial results.
- Maintains an in-depth, and up to date knowledge and understanding of both US and international accounting principles.
- Advises management of potential changes in accounting regulations or practices that may impact international operations and reporting.
- Manages a departmental sub-function and overseas financial activities of non-US based businesses.
- Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the business infrastructure in line with global systems and processes.
- Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall business unit's performance and objectives. Able to act as chief financial advisor directly to the business, and indirectly through the global leaders of other businesses.
- Director of Finance is responsible for compiling and managing the financial guidance for the company in order to drive business results and effective management decision making
- Responsible for operating reporting of a business unit or significant financial analysis, planning and budgeting experience
- Ensures that the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable departments are functioning properly
- Assisting in completing comprehensive Revenue and Receivables financial reporting and trend analysis monthly
- Experience in implementing software solutions to the business process is a plus
Performs supervisory functions by:
- Communicating job expectations
- Planning, monitoring and appraising job results
- Coaching, counseling and disciplining staff
- Identifying and developing key staff to eventually assume greater responsibility and growth within the company
- Initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures
- Approving direct reports time sheets, requests for time off and/or overtime
- Performing timely performance evaluations of direct reports
- Coordinating and conducting new hire interviews; facilitating hiring decision
- Training new hires on departmental processes and responsibilities
