- The mandate of the Director Demand Planning is to establish the team, rigor & manage the Demand Planning process across all Retail categories and the respective verticals/products within Flipkart’s retail business unit including forecast measurements (such as baseline and consensus) in view of the historical projections from Inventory Planning and Control (IPC), collaboration with Category Managers, allocating available-to-promise inventory, constraint consideration and sanitizing the demand call-out numbers in view of past performance, inventory profile, end of life products , non-moving inventory and new product introductions

- He has to consider overall demand view encompassing firm demand, opportunity demand and forecasted demand including the evaluation and time to time revision of the forecasting approach and has to work closely with the S&OP team to fulfill the demand & supply planning cycle.

Roles & Responsibilities:

As a Director Demand Planning, you will be at the heart of a retail transformation initiative and in this highly cross functional role, you will develop a demand planning team to :

- Establish and own the Demand Planning cadence with all the Retail Category Managers

- Collaborate closely with IPC to secure a view of the historic forecast , inventory profile etc.

- Liaison with cross functional stakeholders (Ex: Supply Chain, Customer Service, Technology etc.) to secure a view of constraints.

- Manage the weekly Demand Planning cadence and its interlock and feed into the S&OP cycle

- Sanitize and smoothen the demand call out against all demand planning factors

- Develop a model to baseline forecasts

- Collaborate with all stakeholders and internal customers (Category Managers)

- Evaluate and revise forecasting approach as needed in terms of changing business context

- Measure, own and influence forecast accuracy

- Invoke controls around demand planning

- Project the replenishment orders

Skills & Qualifications:

- 12 - 15 years experience in Demand Planning & related S&OP roles in Retail industry

- Cross-functional and Management of Change experience especially in an Influencer capacity

- Graduate degree in engineering, preferably an MBA from a premier B School

- Advanced MS Excel – ability to correlate data, data analysis, metrics, pivots etc.

- Familiarity with various S&OP tools (Ex: JDA)

- Familiarity with Demand Planning and forecasting techniques
