Director - Data Governance - BFSI

Position based with a Global ATernate Fund in mumbai

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your responsibilities will include:

- Champion the adoption and execution of the Enterprise Data Strategy to continue our data journey.

- Embrace and support the execution of the Enterprise Data Roadmap.

- Become a key partner within the Enterprise Data Organization to support global data initiatives.

- Lead the Enterprise Data Team in Mumbai and evolve the data capabilities of the team to support the enterprise data journey.

- Exhibit a general curiosity and inquisitive nature towards data to help solve business challenges.

- Mandate to partner with functional business leaders in Mumbai, and globally, to improve data quality and accessibility generating tangible business value.

- Be the authoritative voice of data in Mumbai to drive cultural change to ensure data is viewed as a critical asset within the organization.

- Evangelize and support the development of firmwide Data Products.

- Create business value by establishing data self-service capabilities through data visualization tools e.g. data dashboards.

- Experience establishing data self-service capabilities, including consumer dashboards, to deliver business value.

- Exposure to data-modeling and data-prototyping to shape and deliver firmwide data products.

- Ensure execution of local data projects and initiatives have a measurable, positive ROI.

- Transform and liberate data to become a trusted accessible asset for the firm.

- Advocate to implement data governance and data quality capabilities to improve data across the organization.

- Drive the implementation of data best practices, with a metrics driven approach to improve the overall data health.

- Establish cross functional partnerships to identify opportunities to enhance our business processes front-to-back to improve our data supply chain.

- Evolve the data reporting, data automation and self-service capabilities for our business domains and critical business functions.

- Set the standard for data quality within AGM and supporting business functions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: (Academic, Professional, Experience):

- 18+ years of experience in financial or consulting industry.

- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, or related discipline, MBA and CFA preferred.

- Experience with establishing and supporting Enterprise Data Strategies and data transformation initiatives within a fast-paced, dynamically growing organization.

- Experience working within an Enterprise Data Function or Chief Data Office (CDO) team.

- Experience managing a data book of work to support the execution of an Enterprise Data Roadmap

- Experience in data governance and data-related process re-engineering and data transformation in the investment management industry.

- Strong knowledge of data-driven processes, data products, data technologies

- Experience managing and supporting data in a control's environment with key investment management functions.

- Experience establishing data self-service capabilities through data visualization tools including consumer dashboards.

- Experience with data-modeling and data-prototyping to shape and deliver firmwide data products.

- Track record of leading data quality initiatives across business and technology functions.

- Strong ability to influence, shape and improve the data landscape.

- Experience building and evolving a new data team/function and establishing data capabilities.

- Exposure to complex investment management infrastructure and landscape.

- knowledge of financial instruments (e.g., fixed income, alternative investments, equities and derivatives).

- Risk management and risk reporting & governance experience (e.g. portfolio risk assessment, quantitative risk analysis, derivatives and hedging strategies) is a plus.

- Expert problem solver with the ability to identify and triage data issues and drive tactical and strategic solutions.

- Strong communication and influencing skills with partners and peers at all levels of the organization.

- Extensive experience to navigate skillfully within a matrix organization.
