Director - Data Engineering

- The Director of Data Engineering will lead the data engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports our innovative hospitality technology solutions. This role is pivotal in driving the architecture and implementation of data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

- The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data engineering, a deep understanding of the hospitality industry, and a proven track record in managerial roles

Key Responsibilities:

- Leadership & Strategy: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance and career development opportunities. Develop and execute a data engineering strategy that aligns with the companys overall technology and business objectives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data science, BI, product management, and product development, to ensure data initiatives support company goals

- Data Architecture & Pipeline Development: Design, implement, and optimize scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to collect, store, and transform large volumes of data from various sources. Architect and manage data warehouses, data lakes, and other storage solutions to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing. Ensure that data infrastructure is robust, scalable, and meets the demands of real-time and batch processing

- Data Governance & Quality: Establish and enforce data governance policies, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security across all platforms.

- Implement monitoring and alerting mechanisms to maintain high data quality and address data issues proactively. Collaborate with compliance and security teams to ensure adherence to industry regulations and best practices

- Technology & Innovation: Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering, cloud computing, and big data, and evaluate their applicability to the hospitality industry.

- Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies that enhance data processing, storage, and analytics capabilities. Oversee the integration of data from diverse hospitality technology platforms, including property management systems (PMS), customer relationship management (CRM) systems, CRS systems, and IoT devices.

- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with stakeholders, including executive leadership, to understand data needs and translate them into actionable engineering solutions. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding of data engineering projects

- Qualifications:. Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.. 10 to 15 years of experience in Data Engineering, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.. Proficiency in SQL, Python, and other programming languages commonly used in data engineering.. Understanding of Django/Flask, Pandas

- Familiarity with AWS Environment (EC2, S3, IAM, Athena).. Working knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.. Proficiency in consuming and developing REST APIs with JSON data. Ability to perform data mining and data exploration with an intuitive sense of problem-solving and a strong desire for craftsmanship. Deep understanding of data architecture, data warehousing, and ETL processes.. Experience in the hospitality industry or with hospitality technology platforms is highly desirable.

- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.. Good to Have: Real-world experience with large-scale data on AWS or a similar platform.

- Must be a self-starter and an effective data wrangler. Intellectual curiosity and a strong desire to learn new Big Data and Machine Learning technologies. Deadline-driven and capable of delivering projects on time in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
