The company is seeking a Director, Communications, for India based in Gurgaon. This role reports to the Vice President of Communications as well as the President of the Company's India business. This individual will be responsible for driving comprehensive internal and external communications strategies across India and overseeing company's corporate social responsibility activities within the country. Among the top priorities will be supporting the company's transformation to becoming a premier software-industrial company through leadership and employee engagement and aggressive media relations and interactions with external stakeholders. This individual will help develop and reinforce common company messaging across Organization in India for use with employees and prospective employees, media, public officials, and will play a key role in supporting Company's brand and employee value proposition. This leader will also help guide the execution of a range of innovative community relations programs through the country and oversee the measurement and refinement of tactics to ensure maximum community engagement and employee participation.
The ideal candidate for the position will have great written and verbal communication skills, with a thorough understanding of digital and social communication channels and how to leverage them. This individual will need to meet the needs of a varied set of stakeholders inside and outside India and will need to be comfortable acting in a dynamic environment with rapidly shifting priorities and some level of ambiguity. Responsibilities include:
- Drive pan-Company's internal and external communications strategies and programming for India in support of business strategies.
- Work closely with the country president and HR leadership to communicate effectively to India employees.
- Measure the effectiveness of communications and execute actions for improvement.
- Drive regional media relations support, including proactive and reactive interactions with media and preparing executives for interactions with reporters.
- Work with appropriate businesses, functions, and government relations on crisis and issues management, including labor relations.
- Drive common messaging across the Company in India for use with internal and external audiences, and support company's brand and employee value proposition.
- Oversee execution of a comprehensive set of corporate social responsibility programming and leverage for employee volunteerism and media relations.
- Special projects and events as needed.
Success Factors:
- Candidate must have strong (AP style) writing skills, with the ability to develop clear, concise messages that align closely with corporate messaging.
- Candidate must have excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to present effectively to senior management.
- Candidate must have the ability to think strategically and provide communications counsel and assist in developing plans to drive results.
- Must also be able to proactively identify issues and execute actions to eliminate or minimize their potential impact.
- Must have a thorough understanding of digital and social communications channels and how to leverage them.
- Provide effective communications guidance and work effectively across the businesses and corporate functions.
- Ability to develop strong relationships with leaders across the company.
- Advanced understanding of business processes and vernacular.
- Prior experience working in a large, complex international organization, with matrix reporting desired.
- Knowledge of compensation and benefits programs and labor relations strategies a plus.
Basic Qualifications:
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
- A bachelor's/Master's degree in a related field such as journalism or communications
- At least 10 years of demonstrated successful experience in corporate communications or an agency environment
