SAP Project Manager-DGM

Location-Mumbai.
This is an important role within the GTD Professional Services team, reporting to a Portfolio Manager and working closely with other members of the team, especially Architecture & Service.
The purpose of this role is to provide project management capability within our IS Portfolio of programmes & projects, including but not limited to the following specific responsibilities:
- The management of SAP projects, typically (but not exclusively) involving changes to company's internal SAP system, including continued roll out of the SAP global template to new contracts and acquisitions, acquiring and utilising the necessary resources and skills, within agreed parameters of cost, timescales, and quality.
- Defines, documents and carries out small projects or sub-projects (typically less than six months, with limited budget, limited interdependency with other projects, and no significant strategic impact), alone or with a small team, actively participating in all phases.
- Identifies, assesses and manages risks to the success of the project.
- Prepares realistic plans (including quality, risk and communications plans) and tracks activities against the project schedule, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate.
- Monitors costs, timescales and resources used, and takes action where these deviate from agreed tolerances.
- Ensures that own projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are recorded.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Management:
- Accountable for the management of the project to which they are assigned and against the delivery framework, ensuring that deliverables are to the required standard of quality within the constraints of time and cost as defined in the Project/Programme PID/TOR and Plan
- Manage Project in line with the Communication, Quality, Risk and Issues Management Plans
- Monitoring and controlling the Project against baseline plans and/or programme plan
- Responsibility for overall use of project resources, and initiation of corrective action where required.
- Responsible for project administration including regular maintenance of project filing and project outlines
- Responsibility for compliance with Service Management standards, for example including change control management.
2. Lead
- Provide leadership to the project resources and act as the figurehead for the project, directing and motivating the team
- Be a member of the programme and project community, working with colleagues to add value to all members based on experience gained.
- Engage directly with business stakeholders as required for the programme\project to ensure the Company is delivering on their promise and the best of its ability.
3. Govern
- Govern the project as per standards including the company's Management Systems and Delivery Framework
- Ensure that wider programme governance and reporting processes are adhered to
- Responsible for project administration and compliance with corporate and\or programme standards in this regard
- Sign-off of all expenditure in line with Project Forecasts and agreed Tolerances
4. Communicate:
- Promote IS professional services— its processes, outcomes, benefits and ongoing results — to the organization including IT and key business stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships and trust with key business\programme stakeholders by demonstrating a deep understanding of their business issues and requirements.
- Manage project communications in line with any defined programme standards
Skills and Knowledge Requirements
- 2 - 5 years of demonstrable SAM project manager capability.
- Minimum 5 years experience of SAP Configuration FICO, with knowledge of PS, SRM, HCM desirable
- Strong Business Process knowledge and ability to work with Global Process Owners.
- Finance skills to communicate effectively with customer communities essential
- Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- The ability and presence to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the often disparate members of the project team.
- Demonstrable track record in delivering and\or managing projects using their own experience and recognised project management methodology, such as PRINCE2.
- Experience in working in a flexibly resourced people environment.
- Experience with or in an outsourced technology environment and the ability to deliver through others.
- Proven leadership skills and experience of managing and motivating project teams.
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities and able to build trusting relationships with the business and peers within the project and programme.
- Organisationally astute – able to operate effectively within a complex corporate environment undergoing significant change.
Experienced in typical project management tools such as Microsoft Project
Professional and Educational Requirements
Education:
- Foundation level certification such as PRINCE2 or APM preferred
- Formal accountancy qualification
Professional experience:
- SAP Project Management experience, working with global templates
- SAP functional experience (FICO)
- Business Process knowledge
- Direct experience across a range of IT functional disciplines including:
- Project Management
- Scheduling, Planning and Control
- Risk Management
- Quality Management
IT Operations and Service Delivery.
Capability Expectations
Permanent role, based in Mumbai. Projects may involve global travel.
Minimum Qualification
Graduate/MBA/ CA
PRINCE2/ APM or PMP certification - Mandatory
Finance background - Mandatory
Minimum experience in SAP Configuration FICO - 5 years
Project Management experience - 2-5 years
Communication Skills - Excellent
Team Management experience - Mandatory
