Your Key Responsibilities:
- Businesses/Corporations across the globe continue to become more responsible and compliant, not only towards ethical business practices but also towards issues relating to climate change, sustainability and overall well-being of the community.
- More and more businesses are establishing/forming a dedicated group/department for efficient means of propagating their position on sustainable development that not only talks about the financial growth of the company but also to implement effective programs to improves accountability and support ESG (environmental, social and governance) strategies.
- Company is directly affected by a wide range of laws and regulations, as well as constantly changing demands from customers and other stakeholders. The ESG professional is needed to ensure that compliance requirements are met, support the development/ implementation of policies and strategies to address legal obligations, and work with both external stakeholders and internal teams to support the diverse needs of the business. As a member of ESG (environmental, social and governance), team, the person will be helping deliver innovative programmes to ensure company is at the forefront of industry best practice.
- Provide support on global sustainability issues and manage environmental and social sustainability compliance and reporting requirements on product and operational related issues.
- Lead on environmental and social sustainability issues within company - adding value to the organisation through expert knowledge on specialist issues, e.g. Extended producer responsibility, eco-design of products, hazardous chemicals management, energy efficiency, energy and carbon reporting, and Human rights and labour issues.
- Provide support to business teams and other Samsung Group partner on all sustainability related issues.
- Actively support company as the key liaison for all external environmental and sustainability queries from all stakeholders.
- Represent company to Government (State/Federal/SWA countries) and relevant external bodies, industry bodies, academia, local bodies, enforcement authorities, major customers, distributors, and partner companies.
- Monitor regional/states, national and international policy developments, assessing the impacts to company, recommending response/preparation strategies to HQ, and coordinate implementation of company corporate policy and compliance strategy.
- Develop and deliver campaigns/advocacy to change current Government policy to the reputational and commercial advantage of Samsung through cross-functional promotional work, etc.
- To promote the environmental benefits of (Samsung) technology to Governments and external stakeholders.
- To shape Government policy environment to one that opens markets and benefits key environmentally friendly products/solutions.
Experience Required:
- 10+ years of professional experience in government affairs / policy work
- Degree level education (Under Graduate)
- Sound and demonstrable understanding of Indian policy and regulatory landscape, particularly related to Extended Producer Responsibility and eco-design and energy labelling issues.
- A desirable skill would be knowledge of eco-design / material efficiency topics such as product reparability, recyclability and adaptability
