Job Profile
Managing legal support to the Business Services
1) The Legal roles are assigned to ‘business partnering’ responsibilities as follows (the split broadly balances workload and strategic significance of the various business areas and may change to reflect changes.
2) This is business partnering role & is strategic in nature and involve (i) developing relationships with the senior leadership of the teams assigned (to understand their business, processes, products and people) and being their key legal point of contact; (ii) working with those teams to help develop contracting models, legal processes and approaches to risk management to enable the business to meet its objectives while managing the legal and contractual risk. Support the Business to manage and negotiate material contracts (in terms of complexity, legal risk or monetary amount)with customers, suppliers and service providers;
ii. Perform reviews and risk analysis of RFP documentation from customers.
iii. Manage and research legal and compliance related issues applicable to and its products;
iv. Create negotiation guidance and provide training materials for the business teams to facilitate better understanding of the legal issues;
v. Provide legal advice in a business centric and easy to understand way.
vi. Support other ad hoc projects and litigations
vii. Managing junior external lawyers to ensure matters are turned around promptly
viii. Deliver training on legal topics to the business
3) Negotiating with customers’ commercial and legal teams to facilitate the closure of contracts.
4) Working on key initiatives within the legal team to improve the efficiency and productivity of the legal team including developing good quality template contracts and other legal documentation to ensure legal risk is properly managed in new and existing products but negotiation and contract closure periods are reduced.
A professional law degree (LLB) with 8 to 12 years of post-qualification experience:
i. 3 to 5 years of experience working in a reputable law firm;
ii. 7 to 9 years of experience of in-house legal work;
iii. A proven track record of being able to independently handle a large volume of matters;
iv. Strong drafting and negotiation skills ;
v. An ability to think strategically when approaching a new matter;
vi. Litigation and corporate governance experience
Previous experience in a technology company is essential.
