Design & Engineering Manager - Mining/Construction Firm

Job Role:

- Upholding the core value of company, integrity and principle.

- Be accountable for the quality of all design deliverables and technical delivery on time.

- Ensuring that plant related drawings and designs are prepared without any error, easily readable and adopting best design practice.

- Plan and directs the drafters and technical engineers working on specific projects.

- Supervises the issue of engineering deliverables and approves the key engineering documents and drawings.

- Contributes to budgeting for ongoing bidding activities.

- Provide a instructions to the engineering team through engineering procedures.

- Interact with the clients, ensuring their expectations are met as per quality and time.

- Ensure technical deliverables are produced within the required timescales, costs are properly managed within the budget and defined scope.

- Avoid errors and reducing financial risk during construction of drawings.

- Ensuring design and analysis are available to those who need them, at the appropriate time.

- Maintaining documentation of the design process.

- Coordination with cross functional department and project team.

- Motivating and encouraging the design teams.

- Driving a team by efficiency and consistency by providing cross-program, co-ordination and technical leadership.

- Overseeing the design done through external design consultancy.

- Ensure environmental compliance, review the design with respect to health and safety in all circumstances, construction drawings details restrictions and mitigation measures.

- Ensure technical resources are managed effectively.

- Ensure required quality checking/approval procedures are carried out.

- Develop simple, effective technical delivery processes to improve the production of design deliverables to time, cost and quality.

- Technical requirements and standards are adhered to consistently.

- Promote best practice and support the enabling team through workload visibility and planning.

- Adherence to all set deadlines with overall responsibility for the design outputs from the work

- Oversees engineering deliverables in order to ensure completion of projects as efficiently and within stipulated time.

- Develop a detailed design plan to track progress.

- Participates to contract management by initiating, collecting and consolidating the variation requests and change orders.

- Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of designs.

- Ensures effective interdisciplinary coordination in particular through weekly meetings. Takes the necessary technical decisions in case of unresolved conflicts.

- Undertake the principal designer duties on behalf of the company, ensuring the design teams comply with the requirements.
