Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations at our Gonde Frozen and Pasty Line.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient production of our frozen products which has a range of snacks, IQF Vegetables and Fruits while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Inspection and Testing:
- Visually inspect packaging materials and finished products for defects, damage, or contamination.
- Conduct tests to ensure packaging materials meet specifications (e.g., seal integrity, material thickness, print quality).
- Verify that packaging machinery is functioning correctly and that packaging parameters (e.g., fill weights, seal temperatures) are within acceptable limits.
- Perform sampling and testing of packaged products to ensure they meet quality and safety standards.
2) Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and findings.
- Document any non-conformances or corrective actions taken.
- Prepare reports summarizing quality control activities and findings.
3) Quality Standards:
- Understand and adhere to company quality standards, food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, GMP), and industry best practices.
- Identify and report potential quality issues or deviations from standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
4) Defect Identification:
- Identify and document defects in packaging materials or processes.
- Assist in root cause analysis to determine the cause of defects.
5) Sampling:
- Develop and implement sampling plans to ensure representative testing of packaging materials and products.
6) Reporting:
- Prepare and submit reports on quality control activities, findings, and corrective actions.
7) Calibration:
- Ensure that testing equipment is properly calibrated and maintained.
8) Root Cause Analysis:
- Participate in investigations to identify the root causes of quality issues.
Other Responsibilities:
1) Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) that are align with regulatory requirements, industry guidelines and organisation's policies.
2) Establish SOPs and conditions for handling, storage and preservation of samples.
3) Implement plans and strategies to support provision of safe food products.
4) Inspect facilities, equipment, products or production lines to ensure food is prepared according to safety regulations and situational health sections.
5) Investigate technical faults and practices that impact laboratory equipment operations.
6) Lead quality and food safety related audits.
7) Lead traceability investigations on the source of quality lapses and other product issues.
8) Oversee corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) implementation and documentations with other departments.
9) Participate in quality management system reviews and promote quality and food safety policies to all personnel.
10) Review reports and develop guidelines and standard practices for data documentations and analysis.
11) Specify the protocols and laboratory infrastructure and equipment to be inspected and tested.
12) Verify alignment of sampling documentation, testing activities and procedures with established protocols to identify issues.
13) Verify quality control (QC) records, test results and reports for regulatory authorities.
