Responsibilities

- Overseeing the curriculum and academic programs: This includes developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure that the institution's academic programs meet the highest standards of quality and relevance.

- Managing and leading the faculty and staff: This includes overseeing the hiring, evaluation, and development of faculty and staff, as well as working to create a positive and productive work environment.

- Improving student retention and graduation rates: The Dean of Academic Affairs works to identify and address any issues that may be affecting student success, and develops strategies to improve retention and graduation rates.

- Overseeing accreditation and accreditation renewal process: Ensuring that the institution's academic programs meet the standards set by accrediting bodies.

- Providing support to students and faculty in academic advising, research, and other areas of academic development.

- Representing the institution in academic and professional organizations.

- Managing the budget and resources allocated to the academic affairs division.

- Collaborating with other departments and divisions within the institution to ensure a cohesive and effective educational experience for students.

- Providing leadership and direction for the institution in areas related to academic affairs, such as curriculum development, program evaluation, and academic policies.

- Communicating effectively with various stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and other members of the community.

Education:

Graduate degree in a relevant field, such as education, higher education administration, or a specific academic discipline related to the institution's programs, A Doctorate is preferable

Experience:

12- 18 years of experience in a related field, such as teaching, research, or administration within higher education. They may have also served as a department head or chair, or as an associate or assistant dean in the past.

Leadership skills:

They should have strong leadership and management skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people and to make difficult decisions.

Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills: They should be able to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and other members of the community.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills: The Dean of Academic Affairs should be able to identify and address problems related to curriculum, student retention, and accreditation.

Strong understanding of academic policies, procedures, and regulations: A Dean of Academic Affairs should have a good understanding of academic policies and procedures, as well as the regulations that govern higher education institutions.
