Our client is having a requirement for Data Scientist with 4 to 9 yrs of exp with PhD background. This is for an Overseas Opportunity in Malaysia . This is for a long term assignment with a min tenure of 2 years . This position requires PhD background.

Technical Competency Requirement :

- Fluency with at least one scripting language (Python or PHP)

- Experience working with large data sets. High demand if you can work with distributed computing tools, such as Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.

- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL

- A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data

- Ability to communicate findings to product managers and engineers

- Ability to answer and identify product questions using appropriate statistical techniques on available data

- Statistics (Theory and Applied Analytics)

- Statistical analysis and optimization - Linear algebra, probability models, statistical inference and hypothesis testing, linear models, multivariate statistics, time series models, survival models, exploratory statistics and data visualization.

- Data mining and machine learning - Frequent pattern mining, decision trees, Neural network, support vector machines, clustering etc.

- Text analytics and natural language processing - Text classification, named entity recognition and POS tagging.

- Software development and programming - Numerical analysis, data structure and algorithms, object oriented and functional programming, Parallel programming with map-reduce.

- General purpose Object Oriented and Functional programming

- Object Oriented programming with Java, C++
