Amazon's Big Data Technologies team provides services to thousands of teams across Amazon including, data ingestion, metadata, analysis platforms, No-SQL platforms and data mining. Amazon.com is seeking an outstanding Data Engineer to join Amazon.com's Big Data Technologies team. The Amazon.com BDT Team delivers to over 1000 internal customers, and a diverse community of external customers, from one of the world's largest and most complex data sets.

Responsibilities

- Amazon.com Big Data is a fast paced environment where every day brings new challenges and new opportunities.

- As a Data Engineer working on the Big Data platform, you will be implementing and supporting the technologies that give our customers timely, flexible and structured access to their data.

- You will be challenged with a variety of tasks, ranging from server administration to metadata modeling to UI design.

- You will interact with customers to gather requirements and structure solutions.

- Design, implement and drive adoption of new analytic technologies and solutions.

- Promote industry standard best practices.

- Interface with business customers, gathering requirements and gaining a deep-dive understanding of key datasets.

- Tuning application and query performance against large, complex data structures.

You Should Also Have The Following Skills Or Experiences:

We're looking for Data Engineers who have a passion for data and a passion for supplying their clients with that data. You love working with analytic tools, providing a comprehensive platform for customers to access their data; understanding your customers- challenges, you can partner with customers to invent great solutions, and you are an advocate for your customers. You are analytical and creative, and you don- t quit.

- Retail knowledge

- Engineering or CS degree

- Minimum of 5 years of IT experience

- Ability to write complex SQL Queries, Data modelling skills

- Internal ORACLE DB Concepts, Performance tuning

- Distributed Technologies (Hadoop, EMR, HIVE).
