Data Analyst - Consulting Firm - Contractual

Our client, a leading consulting firm, is seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst with strong expertise in Advanced MS Excel, VBA, and SQL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes, generating reports, and ensuring data accuracy for internal and regulatory reporting purposes.

The role requires the candidate to have hands-on experience in working with large datasets, extracting data from databases using SQL queries, and automating data processing tasks using VBA macros and Excel functions. Additionally, any prior knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements (SAMA) would be a valuable advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL):

- Extract data from various databases (DB) using SQL scripts or simple queries.

- Process and transform extracted data into a standardized format using Excel / ASCII files.

- Perform data staging and cleansing activities to ensure accuracy and consistency.

- Generate and prepare data files that can be easily uploaded into a database.

2. Data Processing & Reporting:

- Utilize Advanced Excel functions including Pivot Tables, Subtotals, Error Checks, IF Statements, Lookups, Conditional Formatting, etc. to analyze data and produce structured reports.

- Create macros using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) to automate repetitive tasks and streamline data processing.

- Build custom Excel templates and automate report generation processes.

3. Data Quality and Validation:

- Implement error checks, data validation, and data cleansing processes to ensure that the extracted and processed data is accurate and compliant with defined standards.

- Troubleshoot discrepancies or errors in data extraction or processing and propose resolution methods.

4. Regulatory Reporting Support (Preferred):

- Support the preparation of regulatory reports, ensuring alignment with SAMA (Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority) standards or any other applicable regulatory bodies.

- Assist in fulfilling data requests from internal and external stakeholders.

5. Stakeholder Collaboration:

- Collaborate with business, finance, and technology teams to gather data requirements and ensure seamless data processing and reporting.

- Provide technical expertise and support in understanding data structures, ensuring optimized data processing.

Required Skills & Experience:

1. Technical Skills:

- Advanced MS Excel Skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Subtotals, Data Validation, Error Checks, Conditional Formatting, etc.).

- VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) Macros development for data automation and reporting.

- SQL Query Writing - Ability to extract data from a database using SQL queries/scripts.

- Experience in transforming data from databases (DB) to Excel / ASCII files and vice versa.

- Ability to write and save processed data in ASCII files to be uploaded into databases.

- Strong understanding of data formatting, structuring, and cleansing techniques.

2. Desirable Skills (Preferred):

- Regulatory Reporting Knowledge: Understanding of SAMA (Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority) or any other regulatory body's reporting requirements.

- Experience working in Banking, Financial Services, or Regulatory Compliance domains.

- Ability to work with large datasets and high volumes of data processing.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or related fields.

- Certifications in SQL, Data Analytics, or Microsoft Excel (Expert level) would be an added advantage.

- Experience in working with Regulatory Reports (SAMA) or financial reporting would be a plus.
