Reporting to: CCO

Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer and leading a small project team, the position holds dual responsibility for the tactical execution of new Office Expansion Strategy in South Asia region and also ensuring commercial development of standardized products to be sold through the Field Sales Channel thus becoming a powerful enabler in the Damco South Asia growth journey
Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities for New Office Implementation:

- Take ownership of all of the practical elements of establishing the office network within clearly defined criteria

- Hold full responsibility in new office set up including but not limited to location selection, office lease negotiation, IT and other infrastructure installation, general office procurement, Human Resources Management, etc

- Collaborate and engage closely with cluster managers, drive alignment between management expectation and project delivery

- Proactively anticipate areas of concern and ensure they are addressed with stakeholders and improvement suggestions implemented

- Drive project plan completion according to timeline, resource, quality agreed on and clearly communicate the expectation, task ownership and project plan to all stakeholders

- Ensure seamless transfer of ownership to final business process owners

- Be responsible for other functional development tasks as assigned by the Chief Commercial Officer

Key Responsibilities as Field Sales development manager:

- Support in developing / updating ‘blue books’ (global guidelines, direction and governance) for Growth.

- Driving productivity improvements and adherence to our FS and Trade lane strategies in the region

- Working with Product and Carrier Management to develop new products now and for the future (matching off against our Trade lane priorities) and having an input in to carrier management strategy and development

- Setting the FS strategy (in conjunction with CCO) for the region and managing performance

- Working with Clusters / Branches to improve performance

- Co-ordinate with functional & area heads and ensure governance as per the guidelines established by the One Damco STC.

- Track progress and highlight key risks / delays.

Skills Required

Given our growth strategy for our forwarding business, this role is absolutely pivotal in delivering strategy. It will require an individual with:

a) Strong commercial leadership skills

b) Proven track record in physical business expansion, conversant with the setting up and equipping of a fully functional office

c) Knowledge and understanding of forwarding both OCE and AIR

d) Possess in-depth project management experience and leadership attributes, with strong commitment on the deliverables

e) Embrace challenges and opportunities with high degree of commercial acumen and genuine desire and passion to success

f) Independent, well organized, can prioritize and meet deadlines, a problem solver with an open, and collaborating mentality

g) Able to engage and motivate, a team player with excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

h) Possess effective stakeholder management skill by building trusted relationships and collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders

i) Strong mobility and significant business travel within the region is required.

Education:

- Masters or equivalent degree in business or related field

Experience:

- Experience with Freight Forwarding Operations and/or experience with change management and commercial capabilities.

Language:

- The position requires excellent English in written and verbal communication skills

Others:

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Confident in rolling out multi location Projects

- Ability to manage stakeholders from different geographies and levels of the organisation

- Ability to drive and implement changes which may be controversial or resisted

- Should be persistent and have a sense of urgency

- Flexibility and willingness to undertake significant travel

- Be innovative and open minded
