This a joint Government Department of the Departments for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO). This organization's role is to work with Country-based businesses to ensure their success in international markets, and encourage the best overseas companies to look at the country as their global partner of choice. The Inward Investment Group has specific responsibility for encouraging overseas companies to choose to grow their business by investing in the country.
About the role:
Iris-corp is looking for CXO level Candidate/Specialist in Commercial Pharmaceutical Sector (Inward Investment) India
- The successful applicant will lead in finding and creating opportunities within major Indian companies in the pharmaceutical sector to support a dramatic increase in the value of investment into the country from these companies.
The functions required are:
- Establishing or leveraging existing senior level (CXO) relationships within major Indian companies to facilitate overseas investment
- Developing and delivering sector specific proposals to highlight the country as a preferred investment location
- Working with HQ Sector team and Sector Specialists to ensure propositions are tailored for individual investors
- Driving projects from initial concept to actual investment in the country
- Working with colleagues (many based abroad) in project managing the potential investment and work collaboratively as part of a virtual team to land the investment successfully in the country
- Key account management to support investing companies to grow, through further capital investment and building their trade portfolio
- Providing regular and timely feedback to the organization's senior management in India on how lead generation activities are progressing and when successes are likely to land
- Interfacing with Ministers, senior government officials and other senior industry leaders about the organization's inward investment work
- Providing leadership and development opportunities to the existing team
Critical Skills Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications
Applicants should preferably have a strong combination of the following:
- Excellent network of industry contacts in the pharmaceutical and related sectors
- Excellent communication skills. Must be able to present effectively at senior levels in India
- Expert company analysis skills and ability to work out a commercial strategy for approaching that company
- Ability to and experience of undertaking high level key account management, working deep into organisations
- An ability to utilise past experience, best practice and wider industry capability
- An ability to influence at senior levels
- A solid understanding of investment at a senior level within industry
- Willingness to provide updates to colleagues and keep systems up-to-date
- Knowledge of and ability to promote the key attributes of the country's propositions in the pharmaceutical and related sectors
- Experience of working overseas or managing overseas projects or investments will be an advantage
Typical Candidate Attributes
- The successful candidate must have in-depth industry experience and credibility with senior individuals within large and medium Indian companies.
- The role would suit an individual who has been operating at a senior level either running their own medium sized company or within a large corporate.
- Applicants could include senior Investment Bankers (M&A, Corp Finance, Sales), Corporate Bankers and senior Management Consultants
Location
- While the calibre of the candidate is of prime importance, it is anticipated that he/she will be based in a major city and travel extensively, including to Tier-2 cities.

- The post offers the opportunity to work in the space between business and government and to widen an already substantial network of contacts.
Type of Appointment
- This appointment is offered on a standard short-term contract for upto 18 months with a 9 month probation period. Any extension beyond March 2015 would be by mutual consent. Candidates looking to work on a part-time basis will also be considered.
