CTO/VP - Technology - eCommerce

Responsibilities :

The CTO / VP Technology will assure successful execution of the company's business model though development and deployment of the company's omni-channel digital platforms. This leader will design a winning technology strategy for the company, and support the Technology Team as they execute, measure the results, and report them to the company leadership. This includes envisioning the company's service offerings as a digital business, architecting e-commerce applications, program management, and managing business support systems, DevOps and internal IT infrastructure - planning for risk and scale. This includes:

Strategy & Planning :

- In partnership with the company's management team, identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company's services as a digital business, including identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business success.

- Identify technology trends and evolving social behavior.

- Evaluate and identify appropriate technology platforms (including web application frameworks and the deployment stack) for delivering the company's services.

- Lead strategic planning to achieve business goals by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timetables for the evaluation, development, and deployment of all digital services.

- Participate as a member of the senior management team in establishing governance processes of direction and control to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately and the organization's resources are used responsibly, particularly in the areas of software development, office networks and computers, and telecommunications.

- Direct development and execution of an enterprise-wide recovery and business continuity plan.

- Communicate the company's technology strategy to investors, management, staff, partners, customers, and stakeholders.

- Manage business support systems and corporate infrastructure for the company.

- Review current best practices for the selected e-commerce framework and establish the initial architecture for the applications.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices.

- Define and communicate company values and standards for acquiring or developing systems, equipment, or software within the company.

- Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization.

- Ensure company technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.

- Develop, track, and control the development and deployment annual operating and capital budgets for purchasing, staffing, and operations.

- Communicate through active dashboards and operational reviews

- Ensure the company's internal technological processes and customer-facing services comply with community expectations and applicable laws and regulations for privacy, security, and social responsibility.

Qualifications & Skills :

- Bachelors, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering from top tier institutions (IITs or similar institutions).

- 10+ years of experience with at least 5 years in retail.

- Comfortable in early-stage, fast-paced, high-growth, resource-lean environments

- Exposure to video technologies will be a strong plus.

- Strong, hands-on experience building an advanced and scalable data-driven e-commerce system

- Established skill in leading and executing complex cross-functional projects, with simple and intuitive customer experiences.

- A strong track record of hiring, developing, and growing software developers

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
