Learning Ray is an early stage edtech startup founded by alumni of Harvard Business School, IIM, Brandeis and REC. We believe we have more than a mission: we want to transform the way children discover mathematics!

We have an initial set of customers and are planning on going global. If you are a tech wiz, and want to take the technical product forward from initiation as part of the core senior team (CTO) of an exciting startup in the education space, we’d like to hear from you.

Learning Ray has developed a unique discovery-based method of learning math, and as we speak, children in several schools are discovering the joys of mathematics using our approach. We now want to build a software engine that incorporates the key design principles that underpin our approach to learning. It will involve building cutting edge learning apps and games together with analytics that provide adaptive responses to student activities.

The role would include a high level of “ownership” of the technical product, including

- Working with mathematicians to design, develop and deliver a product that meets specifications

- Deploying the product for pilot and subsequently scaling it up for a wider rollout

- Owning decisions related to technical architecture, development, testing and delivery of the product

- Hands-on technical development

- Hiring and motivating the technical development team and/or selecting the right partners

Location - Bangalore

Role requirements

As the CTO you should:

- Be enthusiastic about playing a leadership role in a start-up that intends to be a game changer in the edtech world

- Have experience in designing and delivering a smart and scalable cloud based product that interfaces with various edge devices that run on ios and android

- Have hands-on coding experience, preferably, a technical product management experience that includes demonstrable technology expertise

- Have a minimum of 10- 15 years of experience at a cutting edge tech company and be willing to continuously evolve with changes in technology

- Have the necessary experience in managing insourced/outsourced tech development projects of a complex nature

- Have the necessary experience in working and designing tablet based products

- Have the requisite experience in building platforms for mass use with a large numbers of users

- Last but not least, you should enjoy working in the education sector, and specifically, enjoy the many intricacies of mathematics to which you will continuously be exposed as part of the development cycle

While we are looking for someone with the right educational background – we are an educational company after all – what we are really looking for is a dynamic and creative individual who is not afraid to take chances, wants to share our dream and who is willing to learn and do what is needed to make it happen.

- You should be ready to join the tumultuous world of start-ups and be prepared to put in a lot of hard work while consuming endless supplies of coffee. We will be generous with ESOP’s and equity in an organization poised to grow globally and be a change agent in the education industry. While the salary could be negotiated, you should be ready to work for “startup standards”.
