About the job:


The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Procurement is responsible for overseeing the procurement function, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of electrical goods and services. This role emphasizes operational excellence, supplier management, and compliance with procurement policies and industry standards. The AVP will lead the procurement team, manage supplier relationships, and ensure operational efficiency across all procurement activities.


Reports to - CPO


Key Responsibilities:


Operational Management:


- Oversee daily procurement operations, ensuring timely and cost-effective acquisition of electrical goods and services.


- Manage the procurement budget and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.


- Develop and maintain procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.


- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure procurement effectiveness and efficiency.


Procurement Excellence:


- Implement continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes and systems.


- Apply best practices and industry standards to enhance procurement performance.


- Conduct regular audits and reviews of procurement processes to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.


Supplier Relationship Management:


- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.


- Conduct supplier performance evaluations and implement improvement plans as needed.


- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favourable terms and conditions.


Risk Management and Compliance:


- Identify and mitigate procurement-related risks, including supply chain disruptions and non-compliance issues.


- Ensure adherence to ethical standards and corporate governance in all procurement activities.


- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure procurement activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.


Team Leadership and Development:


- Lead and manage the procurement team, providing direction, mentorship, and support to achieve departmental and organizational goals.


- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.


- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.


Collaboration and Communication:


- Work closely with other departments to understand their procurement needs and provide effective solutions.


- Communicate procurement policies, procedures, and performance to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.


- Represent the procurement function in cross-functional meetings and projects.


Qualifications:


Education: Bachelors degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A masters degree is preferred.


Experience:


- Minimum of 18 years of experience in procurement, with at least 8 years in a leadership role.


- Proven track record of operational excellence in procurement, particularly in the electrical industry.


- Experience in managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts.


Skills:


- Strong leadership and team management skills.


- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.


- Superior negotiation and communication skills.


- Proficiency in procurement software and tools.


- Knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory requirement
