VP - Project Manager - Credit Risk
RFDAR is globally led by Melanie Neill and reports to the Chief Risk Officer. The RFDAR function organization will assume responsibility for the data, production and reporting elements of our capital reporting deliverables, accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of input provided for reporting purposes.
The Credit Risk Calcs (CRC) group is part of RFDAR with a current strength of 90.
The teams within CRC are :
- Exposure Queries Analysis (EQA) team which conducts the root cause analysis of queries raised by stakeholders - all users of Credit Risk Exposure - to support the validation of exposure from methodology and data flow standpoints and strategic remediation of gaps, if any.
- Exposure Moves Analysis (EMA) team which validates credit risk exposure variances for daily and monthly and adjusts exposure for CRM and for the purpose of regulatory RWA and Capital reporting to PRA and FINMA.
- Scenarios Exposure Analysis (SEA) team which validates scenarios exposure variances for monthly reporting and ad hoc issues on scenarios exposure calculations.
Main Duties/Responsibilities of the Role :
The CRC group is seeking to recruit a VP to manage the Resolution and Projects Support team.
Expectations :
Functional Responsibilities :
- Manage the CRC Project book of work - Delivery of regulatory projects from a business requirements and UAT perspective
- Current BoW includes BCBS 239, SACCR, Fed reporting, CCAR and Strategic EPE. New projects to be continually added.
- Coordination of deliverables from SMEs across the CRC team on key regulatory projects pertaining to interpreting system and business logic and validation of exposure methodologies
- Actively participate in working group/steering committees of key regulatory projects to understand exposure impacts and plan accordingly for future potential work streams
- Driving BRDs on controls design for new projects and suggest best practices to improve the future BAU processes.
- Driving the UAT planning and testing phase, for a structured walkthrough and release.
- Ensure smooth handover of processes from project phase to BAU CRC team along with requisite knowledge transfer
- Share lessons learned and best practices across project, building relationships with stakeholders and brokering relationships at all levels.
- Track and report on project portfolio performance, providing a real-time, comprehensive, and prioritized view of all projects to stakeholders/senior management.
- Understand the deliverables of internal and external stakeholders and contribute to success through cooperative and collegial processes.
- Keep abreast of system releases, impacts on exposure control framework and prepare pre-release and post-release impact decks for CRC and senior management
- Build strong relationships with all partner teams to run joint delivery of projects
- Good understanding of Regulatory rules like BCBS, FED, Dodd Frank etc.
- Understand end-to-end data flow and functioning logic of our proprietary Credit Risk Management tool
- Understand exposure validation control framework for daily, weekly and month-end reporting with a view to monitor total exposure at entity and group levels for internal credit risk reporting and regulators - FINMA,PRA, FED and FINRA.
- Understanding of concepts like VaR, PE, EPE profiles used by Financial Accounting, RWA management groups.
- Understanding of models for factor based, sensitivity based (Historical simulation) and Monte Carlo (Taylor series approximation and/or Partial revaluation) risk calculators
- Maintain tracking and documentation of various actionable items of cases where propriety risk engines fails to capture exposure profiles accurately, this could be with several teams in Risk department or front office or mapping changes in the system.
- Working with the controls teams to identify new controls added so that there is more proactive analysis of issues.
- In instances where data/methodology issues are identified, strive for strategic resolution and coordinate the prioritization of remediation work with partner teams, with a view to reduce number of tactical adjustments
Managerial Responsibilities :
- Manage efficient resource allocation across various teams in CRC to ensure optimum turnaround time to stakeholders
- Manage escalations and stakeholders promptly through coordination with various partners and team members as required to ensure a prompt resolution
- Preparation and communication of KPIs for CRC, and authoring of information packs as required
- Ensure process documentation and updating knowledge/training documents
- Maintain team training plans and ensure knowledge sharing amongst team members
- Promote continuous knowledge building through interaction with CRO partner and stakeholder teams
- Roll out appropriate buddy programs for new joiners - develop senior members- skills to mentor new hires
- Capitalize on synergies between the different teams in CRC for an efficient workflow and minimal redundancy in efforts spent on root cause analysis
- Manage hiring process
- Maintain and strive to further the high performance standards that have been established by the team thus far in terms of contribution, work climate and relationship with others
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders and manage their expectations
- Collaborate closely with partner teams to develop solutions
- Challenge status quo and build strategies to improve workflows and achieve more efficiency, demonstrate significant initiative beyond BAU areas of responsibility

Education And Professional Qualifications :
- Graduate or Post-Graduate in Finance/Statistics/Economics/Sciences/Engineering/Mathematics (Completed or currently taking the CFA or FRM qualifications)
Work Experience/Background :
- Upto 10 years of work experience in Credit Risk/Market Risk or related control function, with good product knowledge and good understanding of Risk management tools and techniques; Knowledge of sensitivities and scenarios and stress testing procedures
