Role overview -
Americas Securities Settlements are responsible for the timely settlement and reconciliation of securities trades and related monies for CS entities based in the Americas and EMEA.
Core activities and Responsibilities -
Assistant Vice President is responsible for supervision and management of their immediate team and outsourced teams to complete the following tasks.
- Trade pre-matching including (where applicable) communication with counterparties, agent banks and internal teams to resolve trade mismatches
- Fail management including timely matching, stock borrowing requests, fail coding and narration
- Settlement or payment instruction generation (including fees and rebates) where STP is not enabled
- Exception queue management (negative acknowledgement, system feed issues)
- Management of control or risk issues with escalation to senior management where applicable through to resolution
- Reconciliation of depot and nostro accounts including timely resolution of breaks and narration
- Reconciliation of general ledger accounts, inter-systems including FOBOs and exchange/clearing reconciliations (where applicable)
- Review daily risk indicators and escalate to management for spikes/incident
- Oversee outsourced processes including MBR's and governance meetings. Work with VP to challenge AHT and work drivers and SOPs to ensure accuracy
- MyIncidents - work with VP to deliver on remediation
- Compliance with regulatory requirement of respective entities supported including client monies and securities processes, regulatory report preparation and tax document preparation. All procedures to be managed and updated on timely basis (where applicable)
- Compliance with internal policies (i.e. Funds Transfer, SOX) and mandatory training
- Internal stakeholder management including liaison with Trading, Sales, Client Service Reps, Trade Management, Finance, Product Control and Group Ops colleagues
- External stakeholder management with local exchange, custodian banks, regulators, auditors, vendors and IT partners
- Responsible for working with VP to maintain procedures, checklists, skills matrix and outsourcing documentation with timely updates/reviews made
- Know your markets and products, including maintenance of market profiles
- Be a primary SME for new business change initiatives and strategic changes
- Assist and suggest efficiency improvements in your teams
- Represent Ops and Credit Suisse in internal and external meetings
- People management including 1-2-1s, talent management of direct reports (including supporting staff development) work with VP on Performance Management
Strong and Clear communication skills - excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- 8+ years in the industry with a management role
- Proven track record of delivering in previous positions
- Ability to manage a team (both direct and vendor) and achieve department goals
- Mindset to challenge, possess strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Analytical mindset, able to apply to real world scenarios
- Attention to detail- accuracy and control are key factors to success
- Time management - able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Customer Service Focus - Internal and external client relationship management to ensure that we provide an excellent standard of service
- MS Office savvy
